Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
Read the reviews alone and you would never guess the grade. The staff tends to be raised approvingly here, averaging 4.6 stars.
19 of 22 rated reviews are four stars or higher; 2 are two or lower. More reviewers landed on 5 stars than any other score — 16 of 22.
The inspection record is the harder read. DBPR graded this kitchen an F (46/100) on 2 high-priority, 4 intermediate, and 16 basic violations — a verdict the review average does not reflect. That result dates from April 8, 2026. Across its inspection history the kitchen is declining, which argues for reading the older reviews with caution. Ranked against Lake County, it is safer than 1% of the restaurants we score. What the inspector actually wrote up: food from approved source and potentially hazardous foods properly thawed.
Taken together, this is a place diners like and inspectors do not. A good meal and a clean kitchen are different questions. The reviews themselves follow, unedited and newest first.

I always feel like my body benefits from eating here. Fresh, delicious, nutritional food! Always welcoming staff who have worked here for years. That shows something too 😊

I wish I had taken pictures. But we sat at the hibachi side of the house. A lovely family sat next to us. They had never tried scallops, so we shared. Tons of food. Very entertaining chef. He cooked scallops, tuna, salmon, shrimp, sirloin, chicken, vegetables, fried rice, fried noodles. All was cooked to perfection, with the exception of one shrimp, that was slightly over cooked. We highly recommend Robata Steak House. Next time we go, we will sit on the sushi side of the house. We are very excited to eat at Robata again. And it is more than an hours drive from our house. The cost for the four of us was $125. Not bad for the quality of food, amount of food, and the show. Robata Japanese Steak House is worth the drive.

After reading a few reviews, we were a little confused as to how it would go, my mind was changed quickly. The food was amazing, the wait staff was very attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was great! The portions were fantastic, the sushi was very fresh, and the experience was great.

Went in the middle of the week to celebrate my daughter's 16th bday, showed up at 4pm on a Wednesday and went for the hibachi. It was great from the moment we arrived.. greeted, sat and helped immediately. Our drink cups were never empty. We got 2 shrimp and sirloin hibachis and a chicken and sirloin hibachi. I can't even express how good this food was. (For context I cook at home almost everyday- with plenty of seasonings- no white chicken here 😂 😅,do takeout once a week.. I'm also one of those fat people you can trust when I say it's good) The rice was so flavorful! Everything was so good! Chicken was juicy and delicious, shrimp was perfect and the chef cooked that medium sirloin to perfection! And my 16yr old even loved the vegetables! We also had two appetizers; the gyoza and some tempura chicken California roll(can't recall the name)... So good! 🤤 The waiter heard us talking about our daughters bday and even sung and brought her a dessert! 15/10 recommend! So much food we have left overs!! Can't wait to dig in to those noodles again too 🤤😍

If it wasn't for good service I would have given this place 1 star. This is the worst Teppanyaki style (hibachi to some) restaurant Ive ever been to and I have been to a few. I had Filet/Shrimp combo. The soup was ok at best, not much in the bowl besides the broth. The salad was terrible! Iceberg lettuce with nothing else in it and the dressing was gross (I didn't finish it) The vegetables were well prepared. The noodles were ok. The fried rice was bland (almost nothing else that I could see in it, corn, carrots etc) He did crack a cpl eggs but it was still substandard and there was no soy sauce in bottles on the table.. The filet was ok, the shrimp was good. Finally, worst of all, the Yum Yum was the worst I ever had! It was like water, it was pale and tasted a hint of miracle whip. I will never be back, try elsewhere first

Absolutely sensational Japanese restaurant with delicious food and exceptional service. I was with a big group at 2 hibachi grills with fine assortment of meats and vegetables and I also order sashimi and a specialty roll. Outstanding!
