What diners say — our read

Complaints here are real, but they are mostly not about the kitchen. When how long an order takes comes up here it is usually a criticism, and the ratings attached average 2.4. After that, the staff appears most often — 35% of the corpus, averaging 2.7.

The split is 5 positive to 9 negative across 17 rated reviews, with 3 in the middle. These reviews span Nov 2025 to May 2026, so they cover more than one stretch of this kitchen’s history. Freshness and temperature shows up in 29% of reviews as well, averaging 3.4.

The health record runs ahead of the reviews. The last DBPR inspection returned an A (97/100) with 3 basic violations. That inspection was on March 11, 2026. Across its inspection history the kitchen is declining, which argues for reading the older reviews with caution. On health score it sits safer than 79% of the Volusia County restaurants we grade. Among the items recorded were nonfood-contact surfaces clean and floors, walls, ceilings clean & maintained.

The weak part of this listing is the experience, not the sanitation — those are different failures. Everything above is computed from the 17 reviews reproduced below.

Great food, but took exactly 47 minutes in the drive thru

  • April 19, 2026

Good was great. Hot! Service was superb. I never say that about fast food locations, but the girl at the window was so sweet and happy and just all around friendly, how could you not like this place. Next time I'll get her name . I don't frequent Checkers often but this place changed my perception.

  • April 2, 2026

Took forever because they're understaffed. Good customer service though. It's not the workers fault, that falls on the owners being greedy and not caring about their customers, just like most businesses.

I'm not much on fast food but late at night the food is cooked fresh and hot... And they are ALWAYS accommodating and pleasant... My husband and kids are happy

Checkers might have some of the worst food I ever had. I decided to try Checkers again while I was out working after not going there for a couple of months since they had a deal on the Pretzel Pubster Burger large meal for $7. Ended up being the worst mistake of my life. When I pulled up to the drive thru window, the employee working there smelled like intense body odor and left his stench on my hand when he gave me my change. When I got home and washed my hands, I took a couple bites out of the burger and the bread was stale, the ground beef was luke warm, and the only flavor the burger had was cheese and sauce. Checkers might be the only restaurant that should pay you to eat their food.
