Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
Reviews here split hard: 11 five-star against 5 one-star, with little in between. How guests are treated cuts both ways here, averaging 3.1 among the reviews that raise it.
5 stars is the modal score, given by 11 of the 21 reviewers who rated. Conspicuously absent: cleanliness, which no reviewer brings up. The split is 12 positive to 7 negative across 21 rated reviews, with 2 in the middle.
Against that, the kitchen inspects well — an A (100/100), nothing cited at the most recent DBPR visit. That inspection was on March 11, 2026. Its inspection trajectory is upward over the records we hold. Ranked against Volusia County, it is safer than 100% of the restaurants we score. No violations were recorded at that visit, which is the cleanest result available.
This is a listing where the two measures each tell half the story. The individual reviews are below, newest first, if you want the raw material.

Nice place. Great service. Food was excellent.
-
We will definitely try it again! We had corned beef hash skillet. It was the best I've ever had

My wife and I were in this resturant over fathers day weekend. As were were paying our bill at the front desk, we both heard a loud humming sound coming from the kitchen. We both looked in the kitchen as the servers were going in and out. We noticed that the humming sound was coming from a shop vacum sucking water coming out of the drain in the kichen. The smell was nauseating. Looked like the kichen was flooded. We will never return. Worst resturant in DeLand.

Food was good... took some time to come to us...TV sports avaliable.. home town atmosphere..

Waitresses need to smile more. Their great at the service part just one of them doesn't seem to like strangers.
-
I feel there’s no way a breakfast platter comes with 2 toasts in for them to put one piece of toast I feel like it was not in accident it was on purpose
-
Quaint little restaurant in DeLand on Spring. If you’re looking for a little diner, that kind of brings back the days of old this is the place. Their Philly cheesesteaks are the bomb. Breakfast is big and filling. You will never walk away hungry.

What a great place foot is always awesome
-
Food was bland, place closed an hour early on a Saturday AND they rushed my Father and I out on his birthday breakfast. Great establishment.
-
Some of the best value in the land food is great. Especially breakfast. You gotta try the build your own.

Best Philly chees steak you'll find anywhere

If you don't like Donald Trump, it's not for you.

It was ok

closest to hometown food i could ask for. great atmosphere, great size plates of food, friendly waitress ( monique ) who was very attentive to our needs and ofcourse the taste is finger lickin, plate scraping good! and the price is what ya would expect for a plate full of food, very reasonable!

This is a really rare place to find. It's a one of a kind. They were out of two key menu items when we were there Wednesday for lunch. It happens. The Philly steak sandwich was excellent. Very good wings and onion rings too. I also had a special treat, chili and cheese covered fries. I can't wait to try more things the next time I'm in town.

Food is good, but the staff are unfriendly to the point of being rude, snappy, and snide. I've ordered to go from them twice this week and got the same treatment both times. Although their food is good, I won't be back.

My wife is from PA, and we enjoy breakfast here almost weekly. She loves scrapple, and I frequently get the Clint Eastwood platter, and the Rocky Balboa platters are fun to try. We always enjoy the food, and the service staff is great! We love the Philly Diner!

The management personal are lacking in leadership and customer service. Defensive, you can't fix a problem if you don't listen. You can't provide great service if you don't listen to your customer. Average food if they "listened" when you gave them the order, understaffed, no parking when busy and they are very slow in service (45+ minutes to get food from time of order). Any awareness of covid is non-existent. Much better off to visit other offerings in the area.
-
I didn’t believe the chef knows how to cook. Salty food burnt bacons. Raw grits. In one occasion the food in the menu were not available. I do not recommend this place unless they fix these things
