TASTE OF SOUL

I had to leave a little review..... my daughter and I ate here back in March/April. I am from Miami and was in the mood for some homecooking. I found this place. Let me say the ppl were very, very nice.... I had the fried chicken and let me say it was tasty. My daughter had fried fish nuggets..and they were not good. The nuggets weren't nuggets, they were huge pieces... the Mac n cheese was OK, but the rest of the meal lack flavor. I looked at several reviews of ppl that said the food here was delicious. I didnt find that to be altogether true. That being said I could have come on a bad day. We all have them. I dont think it's place I would eat at again.

Fish and shrimp was hot and tasty. They, also, serve soul food with tasty sides. I highly recommend and will visit again when visiting Deland.

I’ve lived in Deland the better part of ten years and I am truly sorry for myself for not coming to eat here sooner. This local business should be jumping on the tenderism trend, the ribs were absolutely heavenly! I was treated courteously buy an older gentleman with glasses. The menu promises geniune soul food and everything, I mean even the corn was obscenely good😩😂🫶🏼. The establishment is clean, nice and peaceful atmosphere, even recognized a few friendly faces and made some new friends. The prices were reasonable also. Cannot stop recommending! I have to take my whole family here very soon!

I hadn’t gone there for a while. I had the Fried Chicken 🍗 & My Partner Had the meatballs.. They were both delicious 🤤 Your Corn Bread and sides are Amazing! I left with a Slice of your Red Velvet cake 🍰 Im glad I did 😋

Delicious chicken, tasty pork chops. Portions generous, smiles from all everytime.

If you are in the area and want to eat, GO HERE!!!!! The food is outstanding and the people who work there go out of their way to make sure the food is nothing less than perfect.

Best home cooked meal you will find anywhere There is no fast food or any restaurants that compare to this absolute home cooked fresh food i had the smothered pork chops w/rice n gravy side of cabbage...nothing more to say except i drove from Palm Coast to enjoy

The food was hot and fresh. I would recommend the pork chops or chicken. Have the chicken in with the sides in the restaurant. And took the pork chops home for dinner. Very tender 😋

First time eating at Taste of Soul and the food was amazing, and fresh . Staff was friendly and atmosphere was very welcoming.I highly recommend.

Food is always so good!!! Fried chicken is crispy and fresh, grits are smooth, price is reasonable, you can’t go wrong here! We will be back again and again

Excellent home cooked, well seasoned and plenty of it! If you haven't tried it, you should! I hear Sunday lunch line is out the door by 11 AM. That says a LOT! We had the fried pork chop and smothered pork chop plates with Mac n cheese, baked beans, green beans and corn. WOOOO! Full flavor, tender chops, baked beans had a very nice molasses flavor, Mac n cheese- to die for!! Just bring your wheel barrow to roll yourself out. 😉

I took my mom here and it was both our first time. Food was amazing, cashier was as sweet as a peach. I will be coming back, hands down best place to eat in deland

Just left here and the food is delicious. The Mac and cheese was so creamy and the fried chicken was excellent and not greasy. We ate everything and will be back again soon.

Everything was good EXCEPT the food. I ordered the turkey wings and it lacked flavor it taste like it was baked in water I added salt and pepper but it was just nasty. The top was hard like it was reheated for too long. And this white gravy 🤮 that was the first red flag it seems to be just thickened flour and water. And the macaroni was okay but the cheese wasn’t mixed either you ate cheese or noodle. The greens beans taste better with salt. But this isn’t southern soul food they have to be from up north because eeeeeeyuck!!!!

I know that god rests over this establishment, I have been in search for a true soul food experience for quite sometime and I got it!!! , Mrs. Yvette and her family treated us like family, she didn’t know it was my birthday today , but she sure made it special, Mrs. Yvette I pray god bless y’all to be in business for many many years to come.

We dined in for Sunday lunch. We both had oxtails and they were some of the best oxtails we’ve ever had! The portions were very generous, the meat was super tender and falling off the bone, the oxtails were seasoned perfectly and the gravy was beefy, rich and absolutely delicious. For sides, I had Mac and cheese, cabbage and cornbread; hubby had collards and northern beans. Again, everything was cooked to perfection with such generous portions that we had plenty left over for dinner! Miss Yvette is the sweetest lady. She gave us a sampling of the fried chicken and we can’t wait to have an entire fried chicken meal! I’m pretty sure we’ll be going there once a week until we’ve tried everything on the menu!!! Next time we’ll be taking some of the yummy looking desserts home as well! Taste of Soul is the perfect name for this family restaurant!

Wow fried chiken is absolutely the best chiken in ....... I do not remember any better and I travel around the world. Simply the best chiken ever 100% recommended

This place just really out does a lot of soul food restaurants in the area the management is really nice and the staff is really nice it's like you know they put love in their cooking.

Absolutely LOVE this place. Friendly staff. Delicious down home soul food. Hot sauce that doesn't quit !!!
