FRIGATE'S WATERFRONT BAR & GRILL

Loved this place in the past. Was a staple every time we visited, my daughter chose to celebrate her birthday here multiple times. Won’t be back. The 20% mandatory fee on every check is outrageous and has given servers no reason to make an effort. Beware Frigate’s website does not disclose this fee either.

3 strikes Why is 20% tip automatic, it gives your staff no incentive do well. No wonder their attitudes suck. Full of similar reviews. Wake up management.

My husband, friend and I had dinner there on Tuesday 25th. The server was adequate although we sat for about 10 minutes before ordering our drinks. I ordered the Grouper with spinach risotto $38.It was served lukewarm, my husband fish and chips, our friend coconut shrimp which both were hot. I should have complained but was very hungry, my bad. I ordered a Moscato and after couple of sips noticed a small bug in it. Compted my wine but will never go back again.

First time experience was ruined by the hostess who did not allow me to come in because a have a coffee cup with me. Not the young girls , it was an older lady who stopped me from coming in.

When we arrive at Cocoa Beach this is our go to place for Sunday Brunch. A full buffet. Valet parking. Don't take reservations so get the early on Sunday.

I’ve never been here before and I was really excited to try it. The pictures of the food looked really good and the ambience of the restaurant Looked beautiful our waitress was absolutely amazing. I’m gluten-free and she made all the accommodations for me which is one of the reasons why I chose this place because of the gluten-free options my boyfriend and I got sushi as an appetizer which took 45 minutes to get to our table and it wasn’t jammed packed when we went. Regardless of having to wait, the sushi was really good. I ordered the shrimp and scallop pasta bowl which it was good but the presentation. My boyfriend got steak and lobster, medium rare, and when his steak came out, it was fully charged on the outside and fully cooked on the inside. It was well done. They took the steak back, gave him a new steak, and it was still barely medium when I asked to speak to a manager, she was not sympathetic at all and only took the sushi off our bill. If I’m being completely honest, I could go to outback steakhouse and get a perfectly cooked steak with no issues for probably the same price my boyfriend and I will not be coming back here.

This used to be our go to spot. However, this restaurant seems to be on the decline. We went to grab some lunch. We ordered the chips amd guacamole for an appetizer, the chips were stale, but the worst part was the "famous" grouper sandwich, when it arrived the bun was soaked in grease and tasted like you took a sip of the grease from the fryer, the breading on the fish fell off completely within the first bite. There was also no sauce or aolie on the bun like there used to be. The fries that accompanied the sandwich were also absolutely soaked in grease and had the same dirty fryer oil taste. And on top of all of the food issues they add a 20% service charge on every check and out $70 meal "which was already too much for the experience" turned into a $98 meal and they requested an additional tip after the meal was paid. Very very disappointing and probably will not be back.

Yet another restaurant in Melbourne that you go for to experience the scenic view, not the food. Every time I come, I am disappointed. This time, I got a simple burger and sweet potato fries. The fries felt like they were made 30 minutes ago and sat there. Completely cold. I asked for a medium burger and got something rare that I’m now afraid I will get sick from eating. If I wanted a rare burger, I would go to a Michelin starred restaurant. This restaurant is not for people who enjoy quality food. 2 stars for atmosphere and service.

Not Good service 😕 wow disappointed waiting 5 minutes for the waiter the place had one table of 5 people and the wait for the food was 35min slow and the place was empty the $30dollas for oysters the size of clams what a ripoff. Food tasted like it came out of box 📦 $22 dollars for a possessed grouper sandwich 🥪 was way over priced oh don't forget there's a 20% gratuity the service was not worth it didn't even know what the dressing on the salad or the menu this place will close from Orlando I rate your restaurant on food a the worst I ever experienced good luck 👍

Great place to hang out and eat. Fun and nice view of the water. Plenty of outdoor seating and all the food we ordered tasted amazing. Would go back! Keep in mind they do add 20% to the bill automatically, but it is stated on the menu.

Calamari no flavor, dipping sauce similar to tomato soup. Spicy tuna bowl extremely salty. Flat diet coke. Plus, automatic 20% tip charged to your bill. Thanks for the experience.

Wow - I just left my first trip to Frigates genuinely excited to write this review. I had been wanting to try Frigates for some time now, but it just never lined up with my schedule. I'm certainly glad I made the time, because this is a truly special place. Starting off with the logistics, I reserved a table over the phone a week ahead of time, and received a text notification the day before to confirm (a helpful reminder). Upon arriving, we were met with a Valet service. I do not let others drive my vehicles, and the Valet employees were kind enough to let me park my own vehicle and keep my keys. Our hostess had our indoor table ready for us right away! It had been raining that day, and I had reserved an indoor table just in case (I'm glad I did). We were a party of 4, and were seated at a table with chairs. We asked if we could be moved to a booth, but our waitress confirmed with the hostess that there was a party of 6 that had already reserved it. Just noting this here for anyone who prefers booths to tables! Our server was knowledgeable not only about the reservation rules, but also about the menu, offering recommendations for Chardonnay and Entree options that were both spot-on. Overall we received fantastic service from the staff! We tried the Smoked Fish Dip for an appetizer, and got the New Orleans Jambalaya, the Blackened Chicken Mac & Cheese, the Wagu Beef Cheese Burger (with Sweet Potato Fries), and the Fish and Chips for our Entrees (all pictured below). My wife and I stopped by for an early dinner. It was pouring rain ☔ so we sat inside. They do have a beautiful view of the water outside. Inside doesn't offer any views. My wife had the Mahi tacos and I had the macadamia nut and coconut crusted grouper. Both were delicious. I also had the pineapple fried rice which was fabulous. We started with the cracked Conch which was also delicious. Kudos to the kitchen staff for a wonderful meal. Our experience was enhanced by our server Sam. He was very engaging, attentive and patient. He is well suited to his endeavors. Highly recommend to any and all! Lindsay and Linda Johnson

The place was fantastic! We ate outside by the Bach deck on the water. The food was top tier. The prices are good. So dishes are a little pricey but worth it. I would highly recommend the restaurant.

I will NEVER go to Frigates again! I refuse to go to any establish that tacks on an automatic service fee or tip!! That's BS!!! If I go to an establishment and when I receive my check and see that extra charge...I will deduct it and pay only what I'm supposed to be paying for. I will leave the cash in the table and walk out. What are they going to do...call the cops because I didn't allow them to steal from me with their bogus service fee and/or tip they added!! I don't think so!! And I will NEVER return to that establishment!!

I'm not sure what happened to the service level at this restaurant but it was horrible for the cost of the food. The veiw was beautiful and the food was very good. When we received the bill the server included a service charge on a group of 3 I had heard of like 6 or 8 or more but 3 people. The service was so bad. WE WILL NEVER RETURN.

Stopped by for the first time for lunch. Excellent food, excellent service, will definitely eat here again. The tip is automatically added to the tab, regardless of table size, and the servers make sure they earn it. Amazing service.

The people working there were young but really nice. The food was horrible. Most of the food was salty or buttery. After eating, it made you feel like you ate a ton of fast food and candy. Overall, the atmosphere was really nice but the food wasn't good.

Do not recommend for a venue, paid $55 plate per person and had the worst service possible. Had to hunt down our waiters this was an engagement party over 20 guest buffet style. I had to ask for every detail down to silver ware and napkins, was told I was getting a great package that cost me close to $2k this came way below my expectations and the coordinator has yet to reach out to me after 2 days . Dinner was to suppose to be at 5 and they were telling my guest at 5:15 to go to the bar because they weren’t prepared. It was 100 degrees out! 6 o’clock and we didn’t have appetizers I asked for everything from appetizers to desert . Anyhow…food was good but service was not there. Sadly disappointed. Details are important in a party like this and I did all the work for the party and then had to work the party. We were clearing our own plates to just get to the cake we had ordered. We had to ask for the cake to be brought out. It honestly made my evening very unenjoyable as mother of the bride. The last thing I wanted to do was be the waitress. Not holding out for an apology but it would be nice. If it were just me that noticed it I would chuck this up to nerves but when the entire quest list is helping clean up and find where plates are, silverware etc, it was an obvious staffing issue that wasn’t even apologized for yet almost they were annoyed we needed service. Anyhow../don’t have an event. Too bad this is my only ever experience with frigates.

Used to love frigate's but yesterday we had dinner, i order a tuna sushi roll and ended up being sick all night. I've never gotten sick from sushi my whole life so this was very upsetting. I Don't suggest anything raw from this expensive restaurant 🤢 previous review: Came here on a date with my boyfriend last night our food was so good. we ordered a crispy grouper sandwhich with mango chutney, side of cheesy shredded potatoes (YUM), a red dragon sushi roll, and some type of fancy raw(?) beef appetizer- i forgot the name. drinks weren't too strong or too sweet 👍🏻 ..super delicious, we ate everything & didn't have any left overs. i wish i got the the server's name, she was very nice❤ Highly recommend this place!!!!
