Community Rating
Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
An average alone would undersell where this place is now. Opinion on the staff is split — those reviews land at 3.0 on average.
A third strand, pacing, appears in 19% of them at 2.3 stars. Of the 21 rated reviews, 17 sit at four stars or better and 4 at two or below. More reviewers landed on 5 stars than any other score — 15 of 21.
The kitchen graded a C (77/100) on 2 high-priority, 2 intermediate, and 1 basic violations at its last inspection, which is roughly where the reviews sit too. That result dates from January 21, 2026. Its inspection trajectory is upward over the records we hold. On health score it sits safer than 23% of the Volusia County restaurants we grade. What the inspector actually wrote up: food & equipment thermometers provided and accurate.
The honest summary is that the evidence is mixed on both sides. Full reviews follow below in the order they were left.

If you're looking for great seafood with no frills amazing prices and a lively atmosphere JB's Fish Camp is it! Lots of outdoor seating on the bay side with dock access and got a nice sunset, Live music on a Sunday night was awesome. Indoor area was cozy and lively with family and friends conversation all around. Stuffed mushrooms and calamari were good apps, scallops in garlic butter awesome along with the fried fish platter get the cajun fried batter very good. The rice was flavorful with a little kick and you don't always see a full ear of corn at places juicy and crisp. Enjoyed the key lime and orange cream pies. Amber was amazing and made sure we were well taken care of. Only in NSB for 3 nights and wish we found this place the first day because we would have been there every night.

Our favorite boating destination.

Service is great, the food was very good. We dined inside clean but crowded live music also very good.

Great down to earth waterfront fish camp. This Saturday we listened to some fine live music and ate a pile of rock shrimp, had a great drive and a walk on the beach. New Smyrna Beach is an awesome day trip and JB’s Fish Camp is a must stop!

Great place to eat with the family. Food and live music awesome 👌

We had a lovely lunch here on a Saturday after spending a few hours at the beach down the street. Their signature rock cake (like a crab cake except shrimp instead of crab) was delicious on a sandwich bun. We also got the hush puppies which were crunchy and a great little snack. Our server Brady was excellent and attentive despite us not ordering any alcohol, which I appreciated. There was also live music and a great view of the water from our seats. Would highly recommend this place.

One of our favorite places! Amazing food! Good family fun! Definitely recommend the crab! 🦀

After being in New Smyrna Beach for a week and eating it several different restaurants, including the garlic and the Norwood Street house, we finally discovered JB's fish camp. This was by far our best meal and it was a unanimous consensus. Us puppies are good. Highly recommend JP's blackened fish and the crab cakes and the shrimp.

Great place to stop for lunch or dinner! Options including steamed/fried and sandwiches.

Live music, great food, fast service and amazing waterfront atmosphere.

If you are looking for quality, service, and great food go here! Casual ambiance, service, excellent value. In retrospect, we would have dined in due to flies. That's not the restaurants fault.

Great place, love the people and food. Highly recommend JB’s.

Great location

Worst fish dinner in NSB. Asked for the freshest fish. Waiter said Grouper. It was days old and had no taste. Manager then came to table and admitted kitchen crew said it wasn't fresh. Will never be going back. This restaurant used to be really good before the owner passed away. It has really gone down. Very sad

Great local place to eat

I tried the "rock" cakes. (Made from rock shrimp) They did not disappoint 😋

I'll never eat here again. I ordered blackened grilled flounder. I got fried fish of some kind. My husband ordered grilled blackened chicken breast and it arrived burnt! Not blackened but actually burnt. We spent almost $80 to drink out of single use plastic cups and eat off of paper plates. Our server didnt pay attention to us at all. She never delivered our food. We had to wait for refills. Then she dropped the check and walked away instead of taking our payment. Horrible place and I would NOT recommend!

Little or no alcohol in drinks!!

Delicious as usual!!

Seems like a lot of reviews are from professional reviewers, read the non local guide reviews, flavorless frozen food thrown in a fryer. Great views and great wait staff, food was below average.

As a local, I would have loved to say that I’ll be returning because the atmosphere was great, but unfortunately our experience tonight was extremely disappointing. The food itself was okay. A member of our party ordered fish, and it came out incorrectly. Our waiter noticed the mistake before we even had to say anything, and he was excellent throughout the entire situation. A manager then came to our table and assured us the order would be corrected. During that conversation, she repeatedly played with her hair while speaking to us, which was unprofessional and off-putting. After waiting another 25–30 minutes, the corrected fish finally arrived—after everyone else at the table had already finished their meals. When we expressed our frustration, we were offered a slice of pie as compensation. While we appreciated the gesture, it did not address the overall experience. When the bill arrived, nothing had been adjusted despite the incorrect meal and lengthy delay. We explained that we felt the situation could have been handled much better. The same manager returned and that’s when it went downhill. She stated that they already had to absorb the cost of the incorrectly prepared fish and the pie they had offered us ( THE FISH THEY PREPARED WRONG AND THE PIE THEY OFFERED US!! ) she then attempted to justify the delay by explaining that they only have one grill available for blackened fish so that’s why it took 25-30 min…. While we understand operational challenges happen, those…
