Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
Read the reviews alone and you would never guess the grade. Reviewers who mention the staff rate this place 4.4 on average — it is working in the restaurant’s favour. After that, how long an order takes appears most often — 28% of the corpus, averaging 4.3.
More reviewers landed on 5 stars than any other score — 17 of 25. Behind those, whether food comes out hot is raised in 16% of reviews (4.3 average). 20 of 25 rated reviews are four stars or higher; 3 are two or lower.
Set against that, the state's own inspection graded the kitchen an F (51/100), with 4 high-priority, 3 intermediate, and 8 basic violations recorded. Reviews describe the meal; the grade describes the conditions it was made in. That result dates from April 20, 2026. Its inspection trajectory is downward over the records we hold. That puts it ahead of 1% of graded kitchens in Indian River County. What the inspector actually wrote up: food from approved source and cross-contamination.
The practical read: people enjoy eating here, and the kitchen still failed its last inspection. Those are separate claims, and only the second one gets checked by anybody. The reviews themselves follow, unedited and newest first.

Great place to watch the sunset.

Had an excellent chicken wrap! My husband really enjoyed his chicken sandwich. Sarah is awesome!

Absolutely delicious and fresh seafood. The cold shrimp, and calamari were especially great. Very friendly server and very fast service even on a busy father's day Sunday. We'll be back!

Food and service was great

Used to love this place. It's gone downhill with service and cleanliness. Very dirty now and just not well managed. Sad really. Update in response to owner: I did not say weathered, I said dirty. As in cigarette butts, debris and trash at the entry doors and stuck between deck boards. Pieces of food and trash on the floor inside mid afternoon. Bar full on sticky and dishes fun previous guests sitting for extended periods without being picked up. I understand your desire to reply in a way to dismiss my words instead of saying "hey sorry we fell short this time, we'll see what we can do to improve". But as I said, I used to love the place. After yesterday, I'm not surprised you just don't care what anyone says unless it validates you. Plenty of places are on the river or the beach and still manage to do the basics for cleanliness. It's not a pass.

Worth it

I have to admit, when I first arrived and saw that parking was a little difficult, I assumed the place would be overcrowded. As the saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover! From the moment we sat down, everything was outstanding. The food was simply amazing. The skirt steak was absolutely incredible—cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The paella was equally impressive, authentic, and delicious. What amazed me most was how this little corner of Florida delivers such a rich cultural influence through its food. The clientele was friendly, diverse, and created a wonderful atmosphere. The live country music was right on point. Great sound system, talented musicians, and just the right vibe to enjoy a relaxing meal and evening. Honestly, I’d rather make the drive here than go to Conchy Joe’s in Jensen Beach. Yes, I said it—Riverside Cafe is 100% better in my opinion. If you’re looking for great food, great music, and a fantastic overall experience, come see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you, Riverside Cafe, for a wonderful experience! — Dr. Guillermo Collazo

We did sit outside and it did uncomfortable because of outside temperature. I had a mahi sandwich which was good and my wife had a Reuben. It did not agree with her and about 30 minutes later she threw it up. Yes graphic but why did it happen. This does not happen every time we eat out, so yes unusual.

Sarah is the friendliest & best waitress we have had this entire vacation. Really enjoyed the food and sitting on the deck. We had the crabby pig sandwich and the kickin chicken sandwich. Enjoyed both. Don’t miss the French fries

Can get loud inside on Friday and Saturday evenings. Sitting out side is a bit better. The food is good, your typical area seafood and sandwiches. My wife loves the Ahi Tuna and I usually get the Reuben sandwich. Sitting out side along the water is the best part of dinning here. The servers are attentive and helpful.

This is a hidden gem that sits right on the water on the barrier island. We sat outside and though it was quite warm, it felt comfortable. Our waitress, Angela, is a gem herself! We asked for recommendations and took her up on 2 of them. The first was clams in a white wine sauce with linguine added for an extra fee and the second was the rum runners. Absolutely delish! My husband ordered the Mahi Mahi blackened, as a sandwich. The food was delicious and the service, thanks to Angela was sublime! So if you find yourself near Vero stop at the Riverside Cafe, ask for Angela and enjoy the view, the food and a true gem of a waitress!

Had a great experience at Riverside. Something about an older bar on the water filled with great live music, cheerful employees, and friendly patrons that make me really enjoy the experience. Food was great and the drinks came out fast at a great price. Had the grilled flounder with a few beers. Listed to a great live band “Whippersnapper Mountain Boys” I believe who were fantastic!

My family and I ate here today for my aunt’s birthday with Taylor, who served us, and man, we had a phenomenal time. Taylor was so prompt and friendly and eager to serve us with only the best. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous. I’m thankful we chose Riverside Cafe.

We went here for lunch and drinks while watching the Blue Angels air show. Great location away from the pay to get in at the airport

Great find at Vero Beach. Food was amazing and our server Marianna was amazing also, great energy and always smiling. Highly recommend crab dip , bang bang shrimp and the skirt steak.
-
We didn’t get 5 steps into the door before the waitresses were dropping F bombs in front if my kids. Turned and left.
-
10/10 experience good service. The server was kind and warm she knows what you need. The food was amazing I ordered fish and chips makes me think it must be coming from the river right next to it because it was fresh melts in my mouth yet crispy outside the portion was big too. I was satisfied with my order the view was entertaining too the breeze, the pelican trying to swallow big catch and the waters, it was nice!

Visited this place and brought my wife and two of her coworkers because of the good reviews and recommendations on stupid AI and i completely regret my decision. Food is not good and neither is the service or atmosphere. We sat outside on the dock in the blazing hot sun where the tables were not spaced enough apart. All the food was bad nothing was good. Our drinks came out wrong, the water tasted like they scooped it out of the lagoon, and we never got our drinks refilled once (probably a good thing) and our plates were never cleared from our table. I couldn’t wait to leave. This is another establishment in a long list of Florida coast restaurants that don’t deserve the ratings they have.

I've only gone here for the bluegrass bands they've had, but it's a nice enough vibe that I don't mind visiting 🙃 I have yet to explore their food options much as they are a bit expensive for my budget, but their garlic wings were rather good 😋 Not too bad if you like bars 👌

First time, went on Mother's Day, everything was wonderful.

Who wouldn’t want to spend their afternoon looking out on the water with the best bartenders around? Charli & Morgan are amazing. Service was fast and food is great.
