An A inspection result sits behind a review average of just 2.3. Speed of service is the sore point: those reviews average 1.5. How guests are treated follows at 32% of reviews, where ratings average 2.0.
Whether it is worth the money shows up in 21% of reviews as well, averaging 2.5. 9 of 28 rated reviews are four stars or higher; 18 are two or lower. More reviewers landed on 1 star than any other score — 16 of 28.
On the inspection side the picture is cleaner: DBPR graded this kitchen an A (98/100), with 2 basic violations. Whatever the reviews argue about, sanitation is not the weak point. That result dates from January 21, 2026. That puts it ahead of 80% of graded kitchens in Orange County. What the inspector actually wrote up: food-contact surfaces clean and sanitized.
If plate size is what you care about, the reviews are the better guide here; if it is the kitchen, the grade is. The reviews themselves follow, unedited and newest first.

We attended the Marvel Character Dinner at Cafe 4 on June 21, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our Universal trip. The food was good, don't expect fine dining. It's good for park buffet food and there was a nice variety. But let's be honest, you don't come to the character dining for the food. The waitress taking care of our table was friendly, attentive, and kept our drinks filled throughout the evening. What really made the experience special, though, were the characters. We met Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Spider-Man, Captain America, and Rogue, and every one of them was fantastic. My son's two favorites are Spider-Man and Captain America, and both of them went above and beyond to make the night memorable. They remembered his name when returning to our table several times, which made him feel like a true superhero. Captain America even let him hold his shield for photos, something he'll be talking about for a long time. Spider-Man was especially incredible. He spent a good amount of time interacting with my son and even brought him over to another area to get a great photo in front of the Marvel logo. Seeing how much genuine attention and kindness he showed my son was something I'll never forget. If you're considering the Marvel Character Dinner, do it. The character interactions alone made it worth every penny. For our family, it was a 20 out of 10 experience, and we'll absolutely be trying to book it for a special occasion.

Nice food for a long day the park.

Surprisingly great sandwich selection and all that comes in the meals for a really great price

Went here for the character dinner on my vacation. The costumes for the heroes could be better, but the people IN the costumes are top-notch. I have never had pizza this good come out of a buffet. On another note, I didn't even like Spiderman going in, but now I do. He was doing straight up acrobatics and everything. Hire this guy for the next movie! I also got to gush over my all time favorite superhero, Cyclops, and he was also very accurate to the character.

This is the worst place to eat in Universal. So serios they said we’re waiting for 10-15 min while me and my friend are sitting and waiting for 50min now. I hate ts place, go anywhere but not in here.

Food service worker cleaned up a mess on the floor and was touching all up on the trashcan, then proceeded to bring somebody's food out to them without washing his hands. We let somebody know so he washed his hands and she was laughing about it when she told him. The manager helped us out and figured out the issue and walked us to a different restaurant. We're thankful for how he managed it because that's gross and doing it in front of people without shame says a lot about how he cares for the customers.

The food was misleading, I asked for a jumbo pizza, I get a PIECE of a jumbo pizza that costed 25 dollars!
-
I never seen more sluggish and unhappy people serving food. It took them 15 minutes to take orders from a line of 10 people.

Really good pizza! Arcade next door!

This place is so expensive. The online menu, register menu, and what you get in your receipt are all different even if its the same item. They dont sell water, only sodas and teas. There are no kid menu items. The drinks tasted like sewer water, and I ordered first out of my group and waited over an hour while everyone else got their food before me. Overall horrible experience, wouldnt recommend.

Had to wait 45 mins to get a pizza

The short version is this should not be any form of a restaurant. Manager did nothing to get the person in our group the food they were missing even after the rest of us were completely done eating. The staff behind the area to get food said they could not help us that they don’t make the food. All they cared about was telling me I wasn’t supposed to be in that area. Nobody seemed to care or do anything. Just shrugged shoulders and said they will get it when it comes up. Poor management and team that I spoke with have zero hospitality skills. This good location needs a bad make over on how it’s run and serviced. Just sad.

food is not good at all especially for the price

ridiculous order system

Dined here on February 17, 2026. I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. My order was marked as "Ready" at 12:35 PM, and since I had entered a table number (203), I followed the instructions to remain seated for delivery. However, after waiting for 30 minutes with no food in sight, I noticed that other guests who went up to the window to complain were getting their orders processed faster. I finally went to the counter myself at 1:10 PM to pick it up. To make matters worse, the order was still missing some items when I finally received it. This was easily the worst dining experience I’ve had during my five-day trip to Universal. The service system seems broken—you shouldn't have to repeatedly pester the staff just to get the food you already paid for.

Came here on Monday, February 16. Only one person working the registers, luckily a large crew working food. Found out as we got near the register that we had to secure a table before we ordered which was slowing down the process of ordering food for all. Food came out ok, but obvious it had been sitting around as they had all food prepared out front, but not enough speed on the orders to get it dispersed when it is prepared.
-
Waited for over an hour for 2 slices of pizza while people around us got here after us and left before we even got out food. Horrible
-
food took way too long, overpriced for the basic food we got, recommend going somewhere else, food was different from my friends very diluted, forgot the sauce and barely anything
-
The food is expensive and the service is terrible, the cashier lady Katt is very sassy and rude. the marinara sauce tastes like old Preggo. the soda isn’t even refillable. eat somewhere else

I will start with the positive- the characters were absolutely fantastic! Very personable and interactive! If this review were solely based on them, I would give it 5 stars! However…. The buffet was almost empty during peak dinner time, the hostess was downright rude, and even though we had prepaid, pre reserved times we still stood there waiting for almost 45 minutes even though there was plenty of available seating. Then, once inside no one ever came to the table to get drink orders but when we asked at the buffet we were told that a server would be the one to bring drinks. I finally had to track down a server to get drinks, which after delivering them she was never seen or heard from again. Now, let’s talk about the buffet. It was very dirty, almost all dishes were either empty or close to it. The post was almost completely fat and the beef was completely dry. The Mac and cheese was pretty good but there was literally less than a spoonful left of it with no one refilling. Needless to say, it would have been a horrible experience if it were not for the characters themselves.

Comida mala y personal sin motivación. Nos han traido la comida mal y faltaban cosas.

Do the character dinner. The superheroes are great for the kids. Suggest the 5pm one as it was half empty for the first 30 min and really laid back. Food was fresh, Spidey is a greay character actor.

In the cafe 4 we had lovely pepperoni pizza and a ale beer. Unfortunately on this day the service was a little slow however all was fine other than that. I accidentally ordered too much and they refunded me it. The staff were nice.
-
This is one of the most inneficient and slow restaurants in this park. Long lines, incredibly idiotic table number system even to take out. Expect at least an hour to take out a slice of pizza. Also food is trash.

Went there without knowing that we can order food from mobile app. I highly recommend to order online next time to save time. Waited inline for 15 mins and ordered the whole pizza and came in 20 mins. The pizza was not that great but serves the purpose on a busy day. The procedure is open Universal app, look for the restaurant and place order, look for an empty table, enter the table number in the order to get delivered, they will get it to you when it is ready. Below are the items I ordered with ratings Whole Chicken Pesto Pizza - 8/10 - serves for 3

The service is a disaster. I reported it to the manager but she simply didn’t care.
