What diners say — our read

On paper the kitchen passes; in the reviews, a few visitors were not convinced. Reviews that raise service average just 2.1 stars — this is where the complaints concentrate.

If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 2, the most frequently given rating (6 reviews). Behind those, freshness is raised in 18% of reviews (3.3 average). Of the 18 rated reviews, 6 sit at four stars or better and 9 at two or below.

Against that, the kitchen inspects well — an A (100/100), nothing cited at the most recent DBPR visit. DBPR last walked in on March 26, 2026. On health score it sits safer than 100% of the Orange County restaurants we grade. The inspector left without citing anything — worth noting, since most visits find something.

Worth separating: the complaints above cluster on the staff, not on the kitchen, which inspected well. Everything above is computed from the 22 reviews reproduced below.

We were here for a conference and the staff kept it all organized! ! The room we stayed in was very clean- the restaurants/coffee shops could be upgraded. They seem dated and old. The bar in the lobby was great. The staff there was excellent and so was the food. Towels at the pool would be a plus!

The hotel and its staff are excellent. The facilities are starting to show signs of wear and tear. One of the three elevators has been out of order for a year, making checkout times impossible.

My overall experience was ok. I checked into the my room at 2am. The room smelled moldy. The next morning when I got up I noticed that there was mold in the bathroom by the exhaust vent. Guest services was able to get me a new room. (No smell/ no mold) The toilets drain very slowly upon flushing. The Hotel only had 1 elevator working which was a huge inconvenience. When I switched rooms, the room key didn’t work so I had to return to guest services. The property does have parking but you have to use your room key to get in AND out. Getting out was an issue especially since the parking attendant wasn’t available to buzz you out. Also my new room key didn’t work at the parking gate so I had to return to guest services for my parking services to be added to my new room. The parking lot capacity doesn’t have enough spaces to accommodate all the cars that pay to park there so I found myself driving in circles in search for a parking spot. Hilton do better!

This is the worst hotel I’ve EVER stayed at, save your money and just stay at a motel at this point. it’s the same quality tbh. the ONE and ONLY plus side to it was it’s across the street from the parks. We stayed on the 14th floor, 2 elevators were/are still down, leaving only 1 working, the only 1 working still was shitty and wouldn’t take you down to the 1st floor so we had to get off and walk down from the 8th floor. I have health issues so I cannot walk up and down 14 flights of stairs multiple times a day and we were an hour and a half late almost everyday to the parks/shuttles due to being stuck in the elevator bullshit. from what I’ve heard from workers and other people staying is that this is a common occurrence. the lobby and sitting areas are also disgusting and there’s always people’s food scraps everywhere, absolutely horrendous hotel. Also would love to mention, as a larger family/group, we have two vehicles making parking $272 which is RIDICULOUS considering we lost a lot of money due to being so late to the parks etc. we are also diamond members and my dads company uses Hilton for all of their employees daily across America, this will no longer be occurring due to this visit.

Our door was "stuck" any time we opened it. We had to kick the door or give it a good bump to open it. Some of the food service workers were very rude. One of the elevators was out of service and they had people from to events staying here. Probably will never stay here again. It was free though cause we were here for a conference for my wife. On company dime.

I really liked staying there but you have to pay for your parking in there lot?🤔$34/day

One of the worst experiences with Hilton I’ve ever had! Waited 3 plus hours to checks in, with the front desk telling me the engineer was doing routine maintenance in my room. Then they said engineer was done but house keeping needed to clean. Then they said oh sorry we can no longer give you the room you paid extra for, the corner room, because it’s just been painted and there are no more corner rooms left! Then I struggled with them to get my and my husband’s room on the same floor as our daughter. (She’s 21 so not the end of the world but would have preferred to be on same floor) One of the elevator’s buttons broke. Another elevator trapped us in it for 10 mins with another person from the floor below. A section of the build near the entrance was literally falling down. The valets were not available to drop off or pickup the vehicle. (It was a real struggle to find anyone in the valet area) When self parking (which you pay $34 plus tax daily) the machine that is suppose to let you in and out of the parking lot was broken, had to keep buzzing front desk to let us in and out of the parking lot. On the positive side, the coffee shop had very friendly staff with tasty pastries and egg bites. It was close to Universal park but still a mile walk. I’ve been a Hilton honors member since 2003, I go out of my way to stay in Hilton brand hotels, and this really is the 1st time I’ve ever been this disappointed in the company.

The rooms were older, it was okay for one night, would i want to stay here for longer probably not but it did the job. It has a very large lobby with food options, pool etc. It was just to large of a hotel for me and a little chaotic / very expensive parking.

  • June 14, 2026

I can only give partial review due to our arrival and the chaos we experienced! We chose to drive and walk around to make sure our impression was correct, it was awful and we left! Lots of loitering, and Carnival cruise vibes! If that’s not your style…AVOID!

This was, without question, the worst experience I have ever had at a DoubleTree property. During what was supposed to be a combination business and vacation trip, the hotel made an error that resulted in my credit card being charged twice, creating nearly $400 in additional pending charges. Despite the fact that this mistake was entirely on the hotel's part, neither the on-site staff nor the customer service representatives I spoke with by phone demonstrated any meaningful concern, empathy, or willingness to help resolve the situation. What was most disappointing was not just the error itself, but the complete lack of accountability and customer care shown afterward. At no point was there any effort to acknowledge the inconvenience or make the situation right. A hotel’s true measure of service is how it responds when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, DoubleTree failed in that regard. This experience left me extremely dissatisfied, and as a result, I will not choose to stay at a DoubleTree property again, nor will I recommend the brand to others. I sincerely hope future guests receive a higher level of service and care than I experienced.

Cheapskate hotel they nickle and dime you over EVERYTHING the rooms are outdated, bathrooms are extremely small parkibg is FOURTY DOLLARS PER DAY, the grounds look like they are barely clinging on to the grandeur of the 80s. Dont go here its terrible

Hakeem Front desk Went above and beyond for my friend and I .. after a horrible stay at our last hotel and a long exhausting day at the universal park he made accommodations that not only helped us but was empathetic funny and caring.. My friend was a diamond member and the upgrade was just what we needed for myself and her young daughter it was the highlight of our day a little care goes a long way thank you … ps the warm cookie drawer love it!!

No trash can at entry. Parking lot is big, it’s 34 to park. Plane landed at 1130 got there at midnight. Had to park at the end and walk in the dark with my 2 young daughters. No lighting at the end of the parking lot. No microwave. One elevator worked. None of the outlets held the plugs in. Double doors in hallways are no longer being held by magnet so have to pull on a heavy door while holding your belongings. Pool was nice. Hot tub big. Pissed off!

  • June 9, 2026

Pro: Great location, amazing staff, breakfast tasted amazing Cons: $30+ /day parking - Hotel is outdated and need some upgrades - I could hear constant noise in hallway from door slamming - It is a far walk to the park.

I really enjoyed staying here! Carlos had great service!

A Raggedy, trashy outdated hotel. Really cheap and disgusting.

  • June 8, 2026

Love the hotel room, hate the washing services. $4.00 it says to wash or dry, tried to put it through, and it tries to take out $7.00 instead of $4.00. Hate the misleading here.

Kaina is the one who checked me in and she was so incredibly nice and sweet I really appreciate that she answered all my questions. I have an autistic son so questions are usually for him. She was so kind it really meant alot to us. The rest of the staff is very friendly and around to help. The walk to Universal was 25 minutes very close. We will definitely be back!
