What diners say — our read

Diners writing about this place keep returning to service. Service cuts both ways here, averaging 3.5 among the reviews that raise it. Pacing is the next most common subject, in 30% of reviews (averaging 2.4).

If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (12 reviews). What it costs shows up in 26% of reviews as well, averaging 3.0. Of the 23 rated reviews, 12 sit at four stars or better and 9 at two or below.

Against that, the kitchen inspects well — an A (97/100), 3 basic violations at the most recent DBPR visit. DBPR last walked in on March 27, 2026. Ranked against Orange County, it is safer than 72% of the restaurants we score. The citations behind that grade include wiping cloths and storage & handling of clean equipment and utensils.

Neither signal is decisive on its own here, which is why both are shown. The individual reviews are below, newest first, if you want the raw material.

If you've never been to a Gyu Kaku. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you've been to one before. This is the worst one in the chain. Go eat somewhere else. Staff was very pushy on us picking something else to order. When none of my food had been delivered. Was very reminding of the 90 min time at the begining. And then slowly brings the food. While consistently asking me "what I want next". Atmosphere is not good. The people who come here don't control their kids.

We had a late lunch/early dinner on a Friday and were seated in Ben’s section! He provided wonderful service and gave great recommendations! We will definitely be back and ask to sit in Ben’s section!

The food was only okay, service took a very long time, and it was odd that some of the dishes had so little meat (e.g. 6 pieces of chicken for an entire entree bowl). But for a restaurant that focuses on you cooking it yourself, it was surprising how long it took for us to get our food. They might have been understaffed or had new people. Unsure if I would go back.

Prices are crazy high. Quality of food excellent. A $500 dollar bill is too much for a family of 6 which included 3 kids. Outrageous

  • June 12, 2026

Spectacular flavors. Even their lunch menu had a lot of tasty options, and the price was comparable with other places around the area. 100% recommend going with friends and coming hungry.

Rossana was incredible!!! She was patient while we decided our order and was very knowledgeable about the menu. She asked about the proteins we like, but also the type of sauces we prefer. All her recommendations were delicious. The sauces made it! Some started of lighter and grew in intensity. Others starting sweet and had a unexpected complexity and would finish with a light chili zing. She was great with refills in the humid and hot florida weather. The desserts she suggested the lady cake which was heavenly if you like green tea - which we do!! We told her we’d definitely be back and it’s not just lip service we will be asking for her and what we should try next! Professional, prompt service with a friendly disposition and well informed staff! Thank you so much!!

Prob one of the best in Orlando area. I have visited them all and this one really raised the bar. All fresh with an amazing service. They really went above and beyond with us. Highly recommended

Fantastic place that reminds me a lot of it's places in Tokyo. Not as good but definitely great 😃😍😊 Very attentive waitress too.

Our reservation was for 7:15. They sent a text saying that our table was ready early so we went inside. Our table was not ready, so we had to stand and wait as there was no seating available. That wouldn’t have been so bad, but by 7:30 our table still wasn’t ready. A couple who had only gotten water got up to leave and told us that they weren’t currently honoring the all-you-can-eat deal. It’s my wife’s birthday. I wanted her to sample everything. At that point, after waiting for 45 minutes, my wife and I decided to leave. I’ve been here before, but my wife had not. The food is delicious, but they cannot properly handle a crowd. If you decide to go, and I don’t recommend it, check google to make sure they aren’t busy. Or have a back up plan. Texas de Brazil is right around the corner.

It was too expensive for the service and quality. I was disappointed.

  • May 29, 2026

I had the all you can eat. Unfortunately the red meat quality was too low and it wasn’t worth the price. Also they are slow in bringing your orders.

This is our second time dining in 2 years. I feel like it's better years ago than now. Overall just ok 👌🏼

What a great experience! The staff and food are amazing. If you haven't ever tried a Japanese BBQ you must give Gyu-Kaku a try. It's a great way to experience amazing food with friends and family!

Service was extremely slow. My family went in around 3pm and it was almost empty. Server showed up very late to even greet us, and throughout the whole time she was always hiding somewhere and didn’t check on us so we had to continuously ask another server and she put a frown on her face because she didn’t like how we had to ask her. But if our server disappears, somebody has to do her job unfortunately. Didn’t want to give the 18% gratuity because she / restaurant definitely doesn’t deserve it, but we didn’t want any bad vibes during our family reunion so I didn’t say anything about tip. Meat quality was bad as well. It was dry and not flavorful at all. We’ve been to other Gyu kaku several times But if they’re changing things like this, we would never want to spend money here again.

Quality and quantity! I’ve been coming to this location for many years and the quality has never wavered. The selection, atmosphere, and experience is truly unmatched. A premium treat for sure but well worth it. I always go ultimate as a nice middle ground where I have a great selection and a great price for me. This time, June was fantastic and made the experience for my family, extremely enjoyable, compelled me to write this review. Will come back again! Best cuts: Harami skirt steak Umakara Ribeye Kalbi chuck rib

Ive done my anniversary, my kids high school graduation, and my birthday. Meanwhile i live over 200 miles away. That should tell you about the quality and experience. Best tasting food healthy quantity, the ability to cook all the best meats ugh i can go on for hours talking about it. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You will not be disappointed.

So first off the food was ok , I can’t really complain there as it’s mostly your doing. But my god this place was like being in a gd concert full blast! And a terrible one at that! I could barely hear my friend and had to scream across the 2ft in front of us. They played the most god awful pop slop possible , no peaceful japanese vibe music. Add on top of this screaming kids that really should not be here and in kiddy land up the road. I will not be back even though the food was good, it just felt like literal hell with the music and kids.

Amazing experience. Went for our 9 years anniversary and we will probably go back for our 10 year anniversary

  • May 12, 2026

Love coming to this location, its the OG. They have great service, and quick service even when they’re packed. The food here is always top notch, the ones you must get are the -Beef Sukiyaki Bibimbap (The old style with an egg) -Chicken kaarage with spicy mayo And all the rest is good to complement those two dishes perfectly.
