Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
Read the reviews alone and you would never guess the grade. Reviews mentioning the staff average 3.8 stars, so it divides opinion rather than settling it.
More reviewers landed on 5 stars than any other score — 16 of 22. Of the 22 rated reviews, 18 sit at four stars or better and 3 at two or below. What nobody raises here is pacing — it goes unmentioned across all 22 reviews.
Set against that, the state's own inspection graded the kitchen an F (58/100), with 4 high-priority, 1 intermediate, and 7 basic violations recorded. Reviews describe the meal; the grade describes the conditions it was made in. That result dates from January 27, 2026. On health score it sits safer than 3% of the Orange County restaurants we grade. What the inspector actually wrote up: potentially hazardous foods properly thawed and cross-contamination.
What to do with that is a judgement call — the reviews describe the experience, the grade describes the conditions behind it. The underlying reviews are reproduced in full underneath.

Delicious food, great service and pleasant atmosphere.

First time here. One of the rare few places that serves Unagi-Don , broiled eel dish. High quality ingredients. Would come back Edit : second time coming here , the ramen was good but not as good as Ramen Takagi , also had a female server try and sneak in an Autograt for 18% for our bills when it was clearly under 6 people, which was sneaky on her part but will lessen the chance of me coming back due to her actions.

I love the food here; I’ve been eight times! But I was really looking forward to it today; I arrived at 9:45, and they refused to serve me. I find that really unpleasant, considering I come every week. I hope they change the hours, because it said they closed at 10:30 PM.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mikado Sushi has been our family's favorite restaurant for the past 11 years, and it continues to impress us every single time we visit. The food is consistently fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared, whether you're ordering sushi, sashimi, or one of their many other menu favorites. What truly sets Mikado apart is the outstanding service and welcoming atmosphere. The staff always makes us feel like valued guests, and over the years it has become much more than just a restaurant—it's a place where we've celebrated special occasions, enjoyed family dinners, and created wonderful memories. In a world where it's hard to find consistency, Mikado has delivered exceptional quality and service for more than a decade. If you're looking for the best sushi in the Hunters Creek area, look no further. We highly recommend Mikado Sushi and look forward to many more years of dining there!

Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! We had sushi rolls and habachi. Atmosphere was cozy. The kids loved it and we’d definitely make this a go to place if we lived in Florida. Service was also great. Well done! Makato!

I’ve been to a lot of sushi restaurants in the area but mikado tops them all service was 100/10 and our server Elaine was absolutely amazing , Super attentive and so kind. I will be back not only for delicious food but because Elaine made our experience a reason to return !

Top tier Japanese restaurant, I love the atmosphere and the bartender Christina is very pleasant to talk to. But it’s not one of those places where you can complain and get food for free. Remember, it’s up to the manager’s discretion if he wants to give you free food.

My girlfriend came in last night and she ordered the hibachi chicken. After just a couple of bites, she realized she didn’t like it and asked if she could switch to something else. The staff allowed her to change her meal, and she ended up enjoying the new dish—but we were still charged for the original plate she barely touched. After asking why … she was told it is what it is and because she had a bite she had to pay. We both work in the service industry, so we understand how things operate, but this didn’t sit right with us. Situations like this are usually handled with a bit more flexibility and consideration. Unfortunately, this experience didn’t make us feel very welcomed. There are plenty of other sushi spots where the customer experience is handled much better.

I visited Mikado Sushi this evening and had a pretty disappointing experience overall. I enjoyed the ginger salad, but I wasn’t impressed with the hibachi teriyaki chicken. The sauce and the texture of the chicken just weren’t for me. Because of that, I asked my waitress if I could switch to a salmon, avocado, and cream cheese roll instead, which was actually fairly good. The issue came when I received the check and noticed I was still being charged for the hibachi chicken. I politely asked if it could be removed since I genuinely didn’t enjoy the dish. My waitress said she would be back and returned with the manager, who asked me what was wrong with the meal. I explained that I simply didn’t like it and would appreciate having it taken off the bill. The manager then asked if I had touched or tasted the dish, and I answered honestly that I had. She immediately responded with, “We don’t do that here.” I found that response very odd and disappointing. I understand restaurants have policies, but the way the situation was handled made me feel like giving honest feedback about a dish was somehow unwelcome. Instead of trying to resolve the issue or show any understanding, I was made to feel like I was in the wrong for not enjoying the food. I paid the bill and left, but unfortunately I won’t be returning.

I had a craving for an unagi don and sashimi for lunch. The sashimi was fresh and the dish was beautifully presented. The unagi don was well decorated with many pieces of delicious broiled eel, seasoned with not too sweet sauce over a bed of rice. It satisfied my cravings. This is my second visit to this restaurant. So far I haven't been disappointed. There's plenty of parking. Service is top notch. And the restaurant decor is elegant, a good place for a special occasion or just to have good meals.

The food is always very tasty! I am a person who eats a lot of sushi and Mikado is by far the best in town. The aura and vibe in there is nice as well. I recommend a quiet, chill dinner or a no pressure lunch there. It’s always a hit!
