What diners say — our read

53% of reviews here touch on service, more than any other theme. Opinion on service is split — those reviews land at 3.9 on average. After that, whether food comes out hot appears most often — 29% of the corpus, averaging 4.3.

A third strand, how clean the place looks, appears in 24% of them at 2.3 stars. Of the 15 rated reviews, 11 sit at four stars or better and 3 at two or below. If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (11 reviews).

On the health side, the most recent DBPR inspection returned a B (81/100) with 2 high-priority and 3 basic violations — middling, much like the reviews. DBPR last walked in on April 28, 2026. Across its inspection history the kitchen is declining, which argues for reading the older reviews with caution. On health score it sits safer than 21% of the Orange County restaurants we grade. The citations behind that grade include food from approved source and cross-contamination.

Both measures agree, which is the least complicated version of this page. The individual reviews are below, newest first, if you want the raw material.

We had dinner at Bice, the Italian restaurant. at the Portifino hotel. For travelers that want the experience, but not the full park experience, it is too pricey to stay overnight, and not really a spectacular experience overall. The music each night is beautiful, but is not always lined up for non hotel guests. Although we love taking family here, the hotel prices are too high. We chose the Helios Grand, for our party. As a Floridian, we were able to afford the stay with a magical experience, without using the parks. They should offer senior discounts to the older generation, so that they can enjoy the atmosphere and restaurants, and not have to travel to another hotel. The Bice restaurant was also freezing cold, and if we hadn’t snagged a table outside, we may have left altogether, because it was an ice cube. As a marketing advertising awareness , to bring future hotel guests, the full inclusive stay should be more well rounded. Something interactive without the horrible bar with the cheesy Karaoke below the restaurant. Something interactive in the Piazza like electric violinists, and arts and crafts in the early evening with painters and artists. Drone picture display maybe over the water with more seating in the piazza. Twice we have stayed at the Helios Grand this year, as the Portifino hotel will never compare with pricing or atmosphere.

Great hotel, super friendly and helpful staff, club level allowed is to not work about food for kids or about breakfast. Amazing pools, water taxi for the win, and free bus transportation to epic.

The hotel was beautiful and the staff was amazing. We would definitely stay again.

I'm not sure how this is considered a luxury hotel. As beautiful as the scenery is, the hotel itself is awful. We arrived and instructed staff as to where the bag should go (we already had a party checked in and needed some park bags sent to their room). They didn't listen and I ended up having to run around to gather my things for our park trip. Upon arriving into my room, the bathroom trash was not even taken out and there was a used female pad in there. The carpet in the room was all torn up in the room. The pool was mediocre. We had just come from Coronado Springs at DisneyWorld and I wish we would have just stayed there for the extent of our trip. Such a terrible experience for a 5 star hotel...

We had an amazing time at the Portofino Bay, our third time at universal but first time in a premium resort and I can honestly say I wouldn’t go back to a non premium resort.|We arrived around 4pm and checked into our room very quickly, freshened up quickly and went straight to the parks. The complimentary express passes meant to we could get on most rides within 5 or 10 minutes even hagrids!|The room was spacious and immaculate with housekeeping taking great care during the week. Bathroom was a great size and the separate toilet was good when there were four people in the room. |We spent most mornings in the park and then came back to the pool in the afternoon when the parks became busy and hot - absolutely loved the pineapple mint frost drinks and the waiter service round the pool was great. The sunloungers were super comfortable my only suggestion would be more parasols around the main pool. The lifeguards were great and had a lot of patience with some of the more poorly behaved children - shock parents no where to be seen!! |We ate at sals deli one lunch and the portions were huge!! Could definitley have shared a main between two people we got a pizza and a meatball sub and both were delicious!|All in all we had a wonderful stay and I can’t wait to talk my husband into booking another stay next year!

Best experience for a hotel. People are professional and the building is well cared for.

We stayed at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando. Our first room gave us a very good first impression — it felt clean and had a very pleasant, fresh scent when we walked in. However, because it was a connecting room, we could clearly hear conversations and snoring from the room next door, so we requested to change rooms. Unfortunately, the second room was disappointing. It did not have the same fresh smell, and the bathroom floor had black, sticky marks. When I wiped the area with a disinfecting wipe, the wipe turned black. I also found an opened cotton swab package with only three swabs inside, while the unopened packages had four, and there was hair on the shower wall. The staff helped us change rooms, which we appreciated, but the cleanliness of the second room did not meet the standard we expected from this hotel. Overall, the property is beautiful and our first room felt great, but the housekeeping consistency could definitely be improved.

Worst customer service especially in the Italian restaurant. Pool has old rusty furniture and no one cane over to offer me a drink or towel. Hotel did nothing to accommodate me. Will not go back nor recommend.

Fantastic hotel on Universal property, we were so close to the free boat taxi to Islands of Adventures and Universal studios Hollywood, we could even walk there on the lovely path around the property. Sal's pizzeria was super close and had great pizza and other foods, snacks. There's a Gelato place in the plaza as well as a Starbucks type shop. We wish there had been more food options tho, and more quick bite, grill type options at a more economical price. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, still. I wish there had been a microwave or stove and larger room fridges. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with common room, 3 bathrooms. Highly recommend for family visits. We also wish there were more covered walkways or indoor paths to move around the property, as it the unshaded plaza was extremely hot and large. Checking in, the hotel kept our luggage while we toured Disney Springs, and we're waiting for our rooms to be ready, which was super convenient. Overall, a wonderful stay!

Hello, I wanted to share some feedback about my recent stay and experience at the hotel and Universal parks. While the main reason for choosing this hotel was its proximity to the parks, my stay was impacted by several issues. In my room, there was a broken light bulb with exposed wires, and the bathroom exhaust was not working, which was concerning. More importantly, I was not informed ahead of time that the park hours were shortened, resulting in losing about six hours over two days. This was quite disappointing since maximizing park time was a priority for our trip. Additionally, Universal made an error with one of my hopper passes. Instead of resolving the issue efficiently, I was treated as though I was trying to scam them. After they realized the mistake was theirs, I had already lost an hour of my day, and nothing was offered to make up for it—a $50 gift card or an express pass for the day would have gone a long way in showing customer care. These are just a few of the things that went wrong during our visit. Given this experience, we will stick to going to Disney in the future. Thanks for taking the time to consider this feedback.

My sister, a dear friend and I booked a quick trip to Portofino to use our season passes at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. The Express passes drew us to Portofino and we were so impressed and delighted with all the amazing people, beautiful surroundings and lovely amenities this resort had to offer. We were treated so well and felt so pampered and safe! The boat to the parks was such a wonderful thing too!! Our room keys were our ticket to short lines and cool indoor spaces with shade and ac. Back at the resort the hot tub was gorgeous and movies were playing out by the pool! The Italian atmosphere was stunning. The food and cafe ambiance was just perfect! The staff treated us well and even sent my sister a little treat for her birthday!! We loved the room too! We will come back again soon!!

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay. We loved the ferry ride to get over to Universal.
