Community Rating
Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
The crowd and the kitchen disagree here, and the gap is wide. Where how guests are treated comes up, the rating that follows averages 4.9, so it reads as a strength.
Conspicuously absent: portion size, which no reviewer brings up. The split is 17 positive to 2 negative across 22 rated reviews, with 3 in the middle. 5 stars is the modal score, given by 15 of the 22 reviewers who rated.
The inspection record is the harder read. DBPR graded this kitchen an F (44/100) on 5 high-priority, 2 intermediate, and 10 basic violations — a verdict the review average does not reflect. That inspection was on May 20, 2026. Across its inspection history the kitchen is declining, which argues for reading the older reviews with caution. That puts it ahead of 1% of graded kitchens in Orange County. Among the items recorded were food from approved source.
Taken together, this is a place diners like and inspectors do not. A good meal and a clean kitchen are different questions. The individual reviews are below, newest first, if you want the raw material.

We're visiting from CA. On our way to the beach, we stopped by Pio Pio to eat and my party of 5 loved everything we ordered. Everything about this place is great. Attentive personnel, food is amazing, our waitress kept checking in on us, in general, really great experience. If we're ever back in the area in the future, definitely will be coming back.

Food was amazing and staff is very respectful and professional Great place to eat.

We wandered in around 3:30 on a shopping day, completely by chance, and landed right at the start of happy hour. Sangria for me, caipirinha for him, tostones with guac to share. The green sauce that comes with everything is genuinely addictive. I put it on things it had no business being on and zero regrets. The breaded chicken with rice, beans, and tostones was solid comfort food. Service was friendly and unhurried, which is exactly what you want on a lazy afternoon when you're not really in a rush to be anywhere. One of those unexpected stops that ends up being a trip highlight.

Food was amazing but I think overpriced!
-

Delicious food, very fast service and great pricing for everything you get.

The service alone was 5 stars. I had the grilled snapper and my husband had the chaufa rice. The chaufa rice was excellent. The rice was full of flavor, and the plantains were awesome (and I don’t usually care for them). The snapper was cooked well. But it didn’t have a lot of seasoning. However, they give you a garlic and jalapeño sauce for the table, and the sauces gave the snapper what it needed. Plus, I got so much food for the price-rice, veggies and a salad. Definitely recommend!

No volveré jamás.

Bravi!
