What diners say — our read

Sorted newest-first, the ratings decline as you read up. Reviews mentioning how guests are treated average 3.3 stars, so it divides opinion rather than settling it. Speed of service follows at 40% of reviews, where ratings average 3.8.

5 stars is the modal score, given by 11 of the 20 reviewers who rated. 12 of 20 rated reviews are four stars or higher; 6 are two or lower.

The kitchen graded a C (73/100) on 1 high-priority, 4 intermediate, and 7 basic violations at its last inspection, which is roughly where the reviews sit too. That inspection was on May 14, 2026. Its inspection trajectory is downward over the records we hold. On health score it sits safer than 10% of the Orange County restaurants we grade. The honest summary is that the evidence is mixed on both sides. Read the originals below and judge the pattern yourself.

We loved this place! MASSIVE buttermilk pancakes, quality fruit in the cups, and huge portions. We came here on family vacation and loved it. Great place for kids!

Food was taste and service was really quick mind you it was a Saturday morning.

This business establishment allows customers to bring a cat into the restaurant while people are eating. I have a cat at home myself, but I would never bring my pet into a restaurant out of consideration for others. You never know who may have pet allergies or feel uncomfortable around animals. What was even more disappointing was that when I called the restaurant to express my concerns, the employee hung up on me instead of addressing the issue professionally. Whether they agree with my complaint or not, customers should be treated with courtesy and respect.

My family came to Orlando for the weekend to celebrate Juneteenth with the rest of our family members. We’re always looking for local eateries whenever we go out of town. (Because, who wants to eat at IHOP or something common when out of town). We came across The Diner on Google and we were not disappointed. The inside is clean and well put together, our server, Kristie, was attentive and friendly and the dishes we ordered were presented beautifully and delicious is an understatement. The best hollandaise sauce I’ve ever had. The Diner has been added to our list for our next visit to Orlando. Thank you Kristie and the team!

We went here after my daughter’s tournament at the OCC. It also happened to be right near where we were staying. The wait for this place was pretty long. However, we had a great server and the food was pretty good. I had the meat lovers omelet and bacon. My wife had chicken and waffles. Both were good but I really liked their breakfast potatoes! The coffee was not that great. Overall, we had a good experience here once we sat down.

I’ve eaten at the Diner twice and their customer service is wonderful. The food is also delicious. I’ve spoken with the owner before and he is a great human being. It is a small environment, which I personally like so just be aware. Definitely recommend.

This is a slightly better than average place for brunch and all that. The coffee isn’t always as it should be and they do make mistakes on your order. We go here because it is conveniently located en route to our usual grocery destinations. Last Sunday, my Mediterranean salad was missing cucumber, red onions and green peppers. When I pointed it out the hapless waitress informed me that the kitchen just then told her they were out of red onions and that cucumbers were no longer an ingredient though they hadn’t updated the menu. My feedback was that when a menu item isn’t what it claims to be on the menu, or when ingredients differ — the kitchen is obliged to inform the customer. See my salad with missing ingredients in the picture… she did bring me some green peppers/capsicum after I voiced my complaint.

Are first day at the diner great food and service refills on coffee.

I sat at the bar. Allyson was great and friendly. She moved quickly, while still giving us time and attention we didn’t feel rushed. This was our first visit. Sitting at the bar we saw into the kitchen! It was perfection! Watching orders come out fresh and how passionate everyone was about the presentation. Everyone worked great together. Positive attitudes on a busy peak hours of a Saturday. I will definitely visit again on my next trip.

I was excited to try The Diner after seeing so many positive reviews, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the hype. First, I have to give credit where it’s due—the service was prompt and friendly. Beyond that, though, things went downhill pretty quickly. The restaurant itself felt dark and surprisingly cold, which didn’t make for the cozy diner atmosphere I was expecting. The food was also much more expensive than the quality justified. My daughter was especially excited about the stuffed strawberry French toast, but after one bite, her enthusiasm disappeared faster than the whipped cream. My coffee tasted like instant coffee, and my chicken and waffles were equally disappointing. The chicken tasted like it had taken a long vacation in the freezer before being reheated and sent to my table. Maybe we visited on an off day, but I’m genuinely confused by all the glowing reviews because this was not a memorable breakfast for the right reasons—and I rarely leave negative reviews. To top it off, our party of six was automatically charged a 22% gratuity. I understand adding a gratuity for larger groups, but 22% felt excessive, especially considering the overall dining experience. Eighteen percent would have been understandable; 22% felt a bit like ordering a side of sticker shock.

Very good place for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Several franchises in Orlando. Lots of these types of restaurants in this highly touristy city. Near Universal Studios. The loaded Grits platter is really good.

Waiter was perfect but while waiting we noticed a group that came in after us was seated before us (overheard the conversation about how many and how long the wait would be). Other than that the food was perfect 👌🏾

I came to place a Togo order. Several servers walk pass me they all kept saying the same thing someone will be with you. I waited about 5-10 mins just to get help from one server after seeing several pass by. I finally place my order, I’m waiting to pick it up. Several servers pass by me again no help no acknowledgment or anything. The manager should address this and let them know all guess are the same and we should all be treated the same. Just cause you think you won’t make a tip from a Togo order doesn’t mean that I’m not a paying customer and guest. Please address this with your staff

Had a few hours to spare before heading to the airport and was looking for a good brunch spot. Found this place on Google Maps and decided to give it a try. The restaurant was packed (it was Memorial Day), and we ended up waiting about an hour for a table. Thankfully, the host was able to get us seats at the bar since we were happy with the first available option. The food was delicious, the waitstaff was friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was great. Despite the wait, it was a very enjoyable experience. Overall, a great brunch spot, and I would definitely visit again the next time I’m in town.

My waitress was good. The food is good. I just don’t like how they bussed my table while I was still at it, and threw away my grits. They didn’t ask if we were finished or anything. we dined for less than 30 minutes, and waited 20 minutes for a table.
