Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
Diners are harder on this place than the health inspector was. Front-of-house is the sore point: those reviews average 2.6. Wait times follows at 33% of reviews, where ratings average 1.3.
Of the 27 rated reviews, 13 sit at four stars or better and 13 at two or below. The single most common rating left here is 5 stars (13 of 27). Behind those, how food arrives is raised in 22% of reviews (2.5 average).
Against that, the kitchen inspects well — an A (90/100), 1 intermediate and 7 basic violations at the most recent DBPR visit. The visit behind that grade was January 23, 2026. On health score it sits safer than 42% of the Orange County restaurants we grade. For specifics, the last inspection cited cross-contamination and nonfood-contact surfaces clean.
Worth separating: the complaints above cluster on wait times, not on the kitchen, which inspected well. Full reviews follow below in the order they were left.

Tijuana Flats is definitely improved. We ordered the family taco platter for four. The food was absolutely delicious super fresh and tasty. This will definitely become part of our weekly rotation.

We visited this location on 6/4/26 around 7pm after I had just worked a very long shift and wanted some good tacos that wasn’t from Taco Bell. We got there and there was nobody waiting so I was like awesome food should be really good no problems. I was so excited to see that there was Flautas on the menu and I haven’t had Flautas since I lived in California because there isn’t anywhere to get them. Ordered our food to go because I wanted to relax and eat. We placed the order with a younger lady who was rude to start with having an attitude like we were not allowed to be there. We ordered the Flautas with extra sour cream and a Burrito meal. While waiting I was going to try some of their sauces and left with one container of sauce because all but 3 were empty and not a care that they were. We got home and I opened my Flautas and was so disappointed that they did these so bad. There was no sour cream, no lettuce to go with them, queso tasted like Frito Lay made it, chicken had no seasoning to it (tasted like it was boiled in tap water with no salt or pepper). I spent money on food I was so excited to eat that I never got to eat it cause it was so disgusting. I would have been better off going to Taco Bell for what probably would’ve been better tasting and that is saying a lot. What happened to your service and quality? The only thing I like about my visit was the cool wall mural an artist was actively painting while visiting why I gave an extra star. My suggestion is at least…

Unbelievably poor service. Stood there for 10 minutes while a girl in the back kept looking at me and never acknowledging I was there. I finally say something and a guy walks out who looks like he was sleeping in the back. Takes my order and then goes to sit outside on his phone. Wait another 10 minutes for the food. Get home. They gave me the completely wrong order. Mind you I was basically the only person there. All around pathetic service. Take an ounce of pride in your work people.

I work downtown right by the Kia center, and I have two different locations of Tijuana Flats I could choose from … the one on Orange Avenue or the one on Edgewater. I always prefer going to Edgewater because the people there are always are so kind and friendly and nice and make me feel like I’m special.

The worst experience ever. My food was cold, there wasn't any meat in my damn chimichanga.....just horrible!!!
-
Walked in around 2:30pm to an empty store and walked up to the counter to order. No employee was at the front and I stood and waited for a few minutes. I could clearly see an employee sitting in the back just watching videos on their phone without even realizing I was there. I asked for help three times and they never looked up from their phone so I just left.

Went in today for the first time in a year and was a little repulsed by the cleanliness of the location. I hate to say it but it looks like this will go out of business any moment now.

One of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant in a while. The nicest staff, amazing, food and quickest accommodations after a minor mix up. K pop, the assistant manager stepped up immediately and made everything as easy as possible. I'll be coming back here again and again

I am a regular customer for more than 1years and till today I had no issues with this restaurant. But today (5/19) I ordered burritos for my kids and they told me that I have to pay .50c for tgr black beans and one of the cashier was so rude to me when I asked her about the menu board . After that she left in and send another girl seems to be the many and she was so means. After that I have to wait here for more than 30mins to get the food. Enen th customers came after me had left the restaurant or they have even ate half way. This is so ridiculous and I didn’t expect a behavior or delay from this shop where me and my family come regularly

Great food the manager was super nice to us as well as the rest of the staff super polite very eager and willing to help take our order we come here as often as we can love this place keep up the good work thank you

Without question the worst take out experience of my life. Waited 45 minutes for orders only to be told one of the orders was not available in their location despite being on the menu. Wasted damn near an hour to get 2 of the 3 orders and the two orders I did get were wrong and missing items. Tijuana Flats is 1/2 step above Taco Bell to begin with however today they fell to the bottom of the "Mexican" food chain and I for one will never visit them again. Oh and the manager couldn't process the refund for the one item that we never received so I will have to call it stop by again to process the refund. What a miserable experience altogether.

Always a great experience when we have TJF’s delivered to the office!

Just a few years ago this was a much better restaurant. Not quite sure what happened. Today my experience fell flat and I'll definitely consider other options before I return here again.

Second time eating at one of these. Very good food. Big portions. You won't leave hungry.

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent order from Tijuana Flats. I ordered two beef hard shell tacos with no tomatoes due to an allergy, along with chips and queso. Unfortunately, both tacos came with tomatoes on them, making them unsafe for me to eat. On top of that, the queso was completely missing from my order. So essentially, I was left with food I couldn’t eat and dry chips with no dip. To make matters worse, when I reached out about the issue, I was not offered a refund or any resolution. As a middle school teacher, I can’t afford to waste money on meals I can’t eat. It’s frustrating because this could have been easily avoided by simply following the order ticket correctly. Attention to detail matters, especially when it comes to food allergies. Overall, this experience was very disappointing, and I expected much better. Update: I wanted to follow up on my previous review. After calling the store and speaking with the manager, Kaitlyn (I believe that was her name), my experience completely turned around. She was extremely helpful, understanding, and professional. She assured me that my order would be refunded and also offered me a free meal to make things right. That level of customer service truly made a difference. I really appreciate the way this situation was handled. This is exactly how you turn a negative experience into a positive one. Way to go, Tijuana Flats, for standing behind your service and taking care of your customers!

I had to wait thirty plus mintutes for my food. No one informed me on why I was still waiting for my food until I walked up to address the matter.

What a shame, I love this place. I ordered my food on the app, got there 15 minutes after ordering. I told someone my name, it isn’t ready. I proceed to sit there on a Monday for 30 minutes, with barely anything going on. Just two individuals at the front talking to each other. Eventually one approaches me, “what are you waiting for?” Ummm, my food? I then had to repeat my name four times for them to hear me. They apologize, it’s been ready. I don’t have my extra jalps I wrote in the note section for and I tipped for this kind of service and cold food. A disappointment.

Came in this afternoon for a specific request after leaving the colonial location. Colonial did not able to help me at all and I’m happy I called here. It’s always been my favorite T-Flats!
-
We had the best experience with TF’s College Park location. Ordered our usuals, expecting the usual - barely any romaine lettuce in the salad bowl and tacos, and over seasoned chips to the point we always just throw them into the trash. BUT!!! Our order last night was a grand surprise - lots of lettuce along with a good amount of toppings and chicken AND the chips were the way they should be! Whatever you’ve done, keep it up! Thanks TF’s 🤗

Love this Tijuana flats! The food is always good and Leland provided us wonderful service today and even made sure we knew about the specials going on before we ordered.

Whoever owns this location should be ashamed. The employees are obviously overwhelmed and you can see how poorly this location is run. Every time we come here, there’s an extended wait due to understaffing. It’s not the fault of their employees as they do their best but you can tell they’re about to cry just working here. How can so many other locations operate so much better than this place? It’s due to poor management and ownership. STAFF UP especially during rush hour. I’ve been in the restaurant business long enough this is a reflection of management.
-
I recommend the steak flautas, they are my comfort food from here and always cheer me up when I’m down. The food is fresh and good.
-
This is the worst Tijuana Flats. Food ice cold and stale. Staff is friendly enough. Quality of food is terrible.
-
I ordered a catering order and the girl in the front was so busy working by herself She stayed resilient and happy despite how busy with a short staff
-
Food is always good

Waited 25 minuets for a To Go order at 7pm just to get home and find half my meal is missing, Tijuana Flats has been going downhill for years and this is the final straw. The company sold out and ruined something that used to be special.
