Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
Service dominates the conversation here — it comes up in 55% of the 20 reviews. Service tends to be raised approvingly here, averaging 4.5 stars. After that, serving size appears most often — 20% of the corpus, averaging 4.0.
Of the 20 rated reviews, 17 sit at four stars or better and 2 at two or below. If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (11 reviews). A third strand, freshness, appears in 15% of them at 4.3 stars.
On the inspection side the picture is cleaner: DBPR graded this kitchen an A (94/100), with 1 intermediate and 3 basic violations. Whatever the reviews argue about, sanitation is not the weak point. DBPR last walked in on May 5, 2026. Across its inspection history the kitchen is improving, which argues for giving it the benefit of the doubt. That puts it ahead of 65% of graded kitchens in Volusia County. The citations behind that grade include nonfood-contact surfaces clean and floors, walls, ceilings clean & maintained.
With both signals pointing the same way, there is little to argue about on this listing. Everything above is computed from the 20 reviews reproduced below.

Food and service was good but seating was cramped

Karaoke DJ sucked. If you are not a part of their crowd your not gonna get to sing. Tourists stay away!!!! For locals only.

Thanks, Lynn, for serving our huge party with a toddler! Everything was great!

My family and I went to Charlie Horse today for Crabby Tuesday! The crab legs were awesome and fresh! My brother got a steak and said it was very tender and great taste! This restaurant is very clean and a nice staff!

The crab legs were wonderful!

The service was great and the meal was wonderful. The ribs and crab legs were perfect. I will be back.

The food and service was very good! When we arrived (party of 5) there was only a 30 minute wait. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because both of my mixed drinks were very watered down.

All you can eat crab.. no need to say more.. excellent

Always great service

Large portions, but average taste. Not much that wasn't fried, unless you want crab legs. We have liked this place more in the past that now.

First time eating here with my family who live in Ormond. It was their recommendation. Hull's is always the favorite (and also the busiest), I had been to Crab Knight previously, so we decided to try this place out. First off: The ambiance. This is a local's spot for sure. Nothing overly fancy. And I like that. That down-home feeling is good for those who grew up in a small town with similar places. You come in, you're greeted warmly, you get a table, you order, you get your food... easy peasy. The place has a bit of a rustic vibe mixed with a nautical theme and sauteed with some local flair. Nothing fancy, a little bit of grit, and just good ole' fashioned "get it done." I came down for Memorial Day weekend and expected things to be a bit chaotic, and it was, but the staff handled things as best they could. Service was a bit slower than usual (according to my family) but it was well understood given the busy holiday. No harm there. Regardless, our waitress was polite, prompt, and attentive. The food: We started off with the Spicy Jalapeno Shrimp Poppers. Delicious! Not too spicy and cooked very well. My family ordered the Steamed Feast ($39.99) and I ordered the Mahi-Mahi Dinner with Scampi butter ($21.99). Portions were good for the price. Mahi tends to be a bit dry, he ce the reason I asked for the scampi butter in hopes of keeping it more delicate and moist. My family told me that it was taking longer than usual for food to come out, and the restaurant wasn't overly…

My favorite place for us to go when we visit the beach. Always great food and service!
-
The food was great, price fair and literally across from beach entrance. I ate good then soaked up the sun.

We ate here the evening of May 19. My wife had a hamburger and I had a dozen shrimp. My wife loved her hamburger and super hot perfect fries. My shrimp were huge. They were good but not quite as good as a couple of other places. We had a super good waitress. We would definitely go back.

Cheesesteak hoagies were the lunch special on Monday … VERY DISAPPOINTING… (Very Little meat, a lot of mushrooms disguised as steak) accompanied by terrible fries… The place has been in business for a while, and we expected so much more !!!
-
Everything was perfect. From the food to the service - perfection. Love the old school, classic vibe of the restaurant. Will definitely be returning.
