Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
No clear consensus emerges from these 18 reviews. Where the staff comes up, the rating that follows averages 4.5, so it reads as a strength. How long an order takes follows at 33% of reviews, where ratings average 3.5.
Whether food comes out hot shows up in 28% of reviews as well, averaging 4.4. Of the 18 rated reviews, 13 sit at four stars or better and 4 at two or below. More reviewers landed on 5 stars than any other score — 12 of 18.
On the health side, the most recent DBPR inspection returned a C (73/100) with 2 high-priority and 11 basic violations — middling, much like the reviews. That result dates from May 14, 2026. Its inspection trajectory is downward over the records we hold. Ranked against Volusia County, it is safer than 17% of the restaurants we score. What the inspector actually wrote up: potentially hazardous foods properly thawed and cross-contamination.
The honest summary is that the evidence is mixed on both sides. Full reviews follow below in the order they were left.

We waited a while and we were very disappointed. The fixings I can't describe what it was because it looked like mush. Needless to say, we told our waiter to cancel our order and we left

Great southern food and cooking. NEVER disappointed!

We've been coming from Tennessee to Aunt Catfish since I was a little girl (I'm now 42!). As soon as we arrive in Port Orange we go see our relatives and eat at Aunt Catfish! It never disappoints! Our favorites are the fried catfish, sweet potato fries with pineapple fluff, sweet tea in a Mason jar, fix-ins buffet (you get this with most meals...stewed sweet apples, cheese grits, baked beans, sweet cornbread, and more 😋), and the cinnamon rolls (made fresh at the bakery)!!!There's usually a wait for a table so call about an hour ahead! If you like southern cooking, you'll love it...even if you don't like seafood there are other delicious entrees. If you are within a 1 hour radius of Port Orange, Aunt Catfish is a must!! Hands down my favorite restaurant. ❤️

Delicious food and amazing service

A family tradition that never disappoints. Trudy kept the cinnamon rolls fresh and Brook made sure the delicious food made it to us. Amazing!

A little crowded. The fried alligator was yummy. The little slide thing was cool for my girls.

Great food

Very unique place with great food. Server was awesome. Would definitely go again if we lived closer.

Not sure what the hype is about. Extremely long wait for a table. When you're called for your table, you wait again. Then you sit down. And watch people that sat at tables after you, get waited on first. Wait for plates. Wait for cinnamon rolls. Wait to order food. Wait for food that is cold. Wait for a bill even after you get boxes. Definitely won't be back

The worst scallops I’ve ever had. Every other time I’ve came here the food was seasoned but the scallops and the greens beans weren’t seasoned at all. Everything seemed really rushed and not good. The only good thing I had was the baked beans and corn bread. Not sure if I’ll be returning because my other family members stated the same thing of this food having no flavor at all. Very disappointed 🙁

I just got off the plane and was hungry. Someone at the airport suggested Aunt Catfish's. I really enjoyed my dinner and our waitress was wonderful. I did have leftovers too.
-
Great to food and a wonderful staff. Need to go here for the fixing bar.

Their call ahead seating process is a joke. Only had four of us on a Wednesday night they'll say it's one thing and then it ends up being another. So many other great restaurants in the area not sure if this is worth the wait though.

Warm cinnamon rolls! AYCE rolls and sides bar comes w most meals. Food and staff are fabulous. Worth the wait.

Request Ella, she’s spectacular and go early! It’s packed by 5:30. Our food was good- the buffet for some quirky sides was definitely unexpected but a cool idea. Our food came pretty quick especially considering how swamped they were. You won’t be hungry when you leave. The crab cakes were perfect- almost no filler and big hunks of crab. My husband go the Drive through Salt and Pepper catfish sandwich and it was also delicious. We sat upstairs and it was excellent to see a great view of the live musicians (you can’t hear them) and the ocean. Definitely something you have to do every time you are at the beach!

They really know how to cook fish! Fried or grilled, never overcooked.
-
Great food and great prices!! We tried the catfish and fried shrimp happy hour specials. The fixings bar is delicious, the cheese grits are the highlight! Good portion size for the special. Don't forget to save room for the cinnamon rolls!! The service was excellent as well! Will definitely be back.
