Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
One subject runs through these 21 reviews more than any other: the staff. Front-of-house tends to be raised approvingly here, averaging 4.3 stars.
No one in this corpus comments on the state of the room at all. The single most common rating left here is 5 stars (18 of 21). Of the 21 rated reviews, 18 sit at four stars or better and 3 at two or below.
The health record runs ahead of the reviews. The last DBPR inspection returned an A (99/100) with 1 basic violations. The visit behind that grade was December 19, 2025. Its inspection trajectory is upward over the records we hold. On health score it sits safer than 88% of the Seminole County restaurants we grade. The service was great but they ran out of acupudad. So I got a empanada instead and it didn't have much flavor in it. Although it had a lot of meat in it but it needed some flavor . I was with three other people and they put all our orders together so we didn't have enough plates. The mango juice was fire really really good I always give second chances so I'll be back to try something else on the menu.

This place is AMAZING! Food is awesome. Attention was SUPER!

As a Puertorican, that can cook, I have some hesitation to try Puertorican restaurants, but, this experience was great! I love seafood and I have not had a very good “alcapurria de jueyes “ in a long time, Coqui has the best! Everything was excellent, great authentic flavors, great service and plenty of dishes to choose from. Definitely will visit again.

Absolutely amazing! 10/10 customer service, great prices, and every bite was delicious. The warm, welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. If you're looking for a fantastic home-cooked meal, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend!

I rarely leave reviews this bad, but people need to be warned. For an $80 tab, the food here is completely unacceptable. The Mofongo: A complete disaster. You are supposed to use a pilón to properly hand-mash fried plantains. Instead, this kitchen uses a food processor, which shears the starch and turns the dish into a dense, gummy paste. It was so poorly prepared it literally caused nausea. The Carne Frita: Completely bland, tough, and lacked any traditional seasoning or marinade. The gentleman helping us at the front desk was professional and courteous, which is the only reason I’d give this even one star. But a polite front house cannot save a kitchen that does not care about authenticity or basic cooking techniques. Save your stomach and your wallet.

El Coqui Restaurant, I'm obsessed with this place despite my thighs, every time I go I swear I gain 10 lb, the food is deliciously good I'm in a vicious cycle, I just got a mofongo with camarones, and I'm enjoying every bite while contemplating life choices, not that I didn't sneak out with a tres leches, a piece of pork and a Coco Rico🤣

Excellent customer service

As a native Tampa gal living in the Orlando area for the past 30+ years, I had given up hopes of finding a "real Cuban sandwich" in this area - Given Up! Until..... We happened upon Coqui quite by accident - and what a wonderful surprise!!! A Cuban sandwich that meets Tampa standards with the bread coming from La Segunda Bakery (opened in 1915 - Ybor City)!! We enjoyed several different wonderful bites and will definitely be coming back on a regular basis from now on! The owner was very personable and passionate about his food and establishment and made us feel "right at home". Make sure to try the desserts as well...... YUMO!!!!!

Una Excelente opción para comer como en casa, la comida exquisita, y la atención muy buena. Solo recomendar que deberían dedicarle un poco mas a la limpieza del lugar, y seria un 10 de 10

This place is incredible, the service is top notch! The food ohh my is so good, delicious so good I’m coming back real soon. I recommend it to anyone they are great!

I've ordered Uber Eats many times from here. In the beginning food was fresh and delicious. As of late I've ordered empanadas de carne and the salt level is really high. I also ordered the chicken platter and the chicken was a bit salty too. Please check the sodium levels of your food not everyone can handle the salty food.

Upon arriving, the owner approached our family to share the specials for the day along with how to order food. We placed our order and received our food within 20 minutes, hot and to order. All orders are placed in "to go" containers and utensils, the servings were generous, and the food was VERY reasonably price! My mother RARELY eats out because she believes home-cooked is the best. At first bite, she said the food was delicious! From my 80 year old, Puertorican mother, this was a huge compliment. This family owned restaurant captures the essence of home made food and I encourage anyone in the area to stop here for a authentic Puertorican cuisine!
