Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
Across 18 reviews, opinion here is genuinely mixed. Opinion on service is split — those reviews land at 3.6 on average. After that, pacing appears most often — 22% of the corpus, averaging 2.8.
Coverage here reaches back to May 2025 and forward to Jun 2026. Older reviews score better than newer ones (3.8 recent against 4.5 earlier), so direction is worth weighing alongside the average. If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (12 reviews).
The health record runs ahead of the reviews. The last DBPR inspection returned an A (96/100) with 4 basic violations. DBPR last walked in on October 20, 2025. On health score it sits safer than 67% of the Seminole County restaurants we grade. The citations behind that grade include handwash sinks accessible and insects/rodents/pests.
Nothing here pulls in opposite directions — an unusually clean read. Everything above is computed from the 18 reviews reproduced below.

5/17/26 Sunday, Late afternoon.. We walked in to check out some games, skeeball in particular, and definitely get a few drinks. Walked up to the bar after looking at the skeeball machine to ask if it was working and to order some drinks. There were about 5 people sitting all together at the end of the bar all drinking and talking. One customer was talked with the bartender. Saw the bartender serve another customer then went back to talking with the customer. She didn’t even acknowledge us even though we were less than 10 feet away at the bar. At first I thought she was taking an order but then it became obvious she was just having a conversation and playing on her phone. We sat there for about another 5 to 7 minutes waiting for her to even look in our direction. She didn’t.. We walked out but I was polite, I said by. We’ll probably never be back. Lame experience…

Mid afternoon I stop by to grab pizza and a beer. Waitress tells me there's no pizza bc the dough is frozen and there's no lime for the beverage she already poured plus over 30mon wait for anything else on the menu bc there was one or two orders ahead of me. I don't know if it was personal bc the other table had pizza and food.

We ordered drinks, gumbo, chicken and waffles. We also ordered the lobster Mac. Everything was excellent including the waitress. We have eaten here was before and we have yet to be disappointed. Recommend trying The Bayou for your eating pleasure. Located on 1st Street in downtown Sanford.

If you’re looking for a place in Sanford where you can drink like an adult but play video games like you’re 12 again, Throwbacks is your spot. I walked in, saw FREE arcade games, and immediately knew I wasn’t leaving for at least three hours or until someone unplugged the machines. The drinks? Cheap. Like “did they forget to charge me?” cheap. I had to double-check the receipt to make sure I didn’t accidentally order a kid’s menu lemonade. And the food? Exactly what you want at a place like this. Not fancy. Not complicated. Just good. The kind of food that hits perfectly after a couple drinks and three rounds of Pac-Man abuse. Now let’s talk about the real MVP: Kristine — the best bartender in the building, the city, probably the state. She’s fast, funny, remembers everyone, and pours like she’s trying to fix your whole week. If you go and she’s working, consider yourself blessed. If she’s not working… honestly just come back when she is. Overall, Throwbacks is the perfect mix of nostalgia, cheap drinks, good food, and Kristine being an absolute legend behind the bar. Highly recommend. If you see me there losing to a 10-year-old at Street Fighter, mind your business.

Fun games & great bartender Amanda!

I came in earlier today to watch some football and have a few drinks after a rough week. I walk in and there was one bartender behind the bar, I think her name is Angela, idk, but she sucked. I sat there for like 5-10 minutes while she talked to some people about zodiac signs or some shit, then she went to the end of the bar, sat down, and started eating. The other bartender walked out from the back and immediately noticed I didn’t have a drink in front of me. She was very speedy with getting me a drink when she saw I didn’t have one in front of me. Her name is Christine, I’ve seen her in here a few times, I didn’t have to tell her what I wanted cause she already knew. Anyways, I like this place but if that other girl is working again I won’t go in anymore.
