What diners say — our read

The crowd and the kitchen disagree here, and the gap is wide. Service tends to be raised approvingly here, averaging 4.8 stars.

A third strand, what it costs, appears in 19% of them at 4.0 stars. If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (14 reviews). Of the 16 rated reviews, 14 sit at four stars or better and 1 at two or below.

The inspection record is the harder read. DBPR graded this kitchen a D (64/100) on 3 high-priority, 1 intermediate, and 9 basic violations — a verdict the review average does not reflect. DBPR last walked in on March 3, 2026. Its inspection trajectory is upward over the records we hold. Ranked against Lake County, it is safer than 12% of the restaurants we score. The citations behind that grade include food from approved source.

The practical read: people enjoy eating here, and the kitchen still failed its last inspection. Those are separate claims, and only the second one gets checked by anybody. Everything above is computed from the 16 reviews reproduced below.

Overpriced. ~$17 after tax for 2 generic biscuits with only a little bit of old, dry chicken and some gravy on top is too much. Basic flavor, if any. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish, but I'm not impressed.

Man this place has the best food I’ve ever had in my 60 years on earth with amazing service. I got an omelette and it was incredible. Old school diner that cooks- not heat and serve slop like most places these days. It’s amazing.

Great biscuits with many flavors. Food was really good and staff was super friendly. They have really big specialty flavored biscuits. You can get vegetarian pepper gravy for the biscuits.

Such a great local spot! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and everyone was incredibly friendly. What stood out most was seeing the owner there and being able to tell how much he genuinely cares about both his employees and his customers. The welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. We're lucky to have a place like this in our community and will definitely be back! I got the hot honey chicken, but added a side of sausage gravy, which made it 10/10!

Food was well seasoned and cooked properly. Waiter was ok she did her job. But there was an older lady with short blonde Bob cutt who wasn't our waiter who made our grandbaby day! And the atmosphere is was great like T mom and pops. We enjoyed our brunch date with som and grandson

Great experience on all levels! We had the Short Stack with sausage patties and the City Folk breakfast with ham. Everything was delicious, portions were large and the quality of the food was amazing!

Well, there's a lot to say. Breakfast is best fulfilled here. They have great mimosas and Irish coffees. Their Texas hash and biscuits and gravy (biscuits and anything really) are something special. All in all, the best Central Florida Breakfast spot. UPDATE: Honestly, this is not just a restaurant - it's an experience. Gents, get the cowboy hash - 'nuff said. Ladies, anything and everything else is well thought out and delivered reliably well. No kidding: this is the spot worth driving an hour to. 10 of 10 in more ways than not. - Loyal Customer
