DOWNTOWN DINER

DOWNTOWN DINER is a 4.6-star room with an F-grade kitchen — the kind of gap a star rating will never warn you about, which is the whole reason this page exists.

That F comes from 4 high-priority, 2 intermediate, and 7 basic violations cited on March 27, 2026. It currently ranks safer than 3% of Brevard County restaurants we grade — close to the bottom of the county. And the direction isn't reassuring: its recent inspections have been sliding, not recovering. If you want the flavor with fewer question marks, the safer-options list below maps higher-graded kitchens within a short drive.

What diners say — our read

Popularity and sanitation part ways on this listing. Where service comes up, the rating that follows averages 4.8, so it reads as a strength.

If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (17 reviews). 21 of 22 rated reviews are four stars or higher; 0 are two or lower. Plate size shows up in 18% of reviews as well, averaging 5.0.

Set against that, the state's own inspection graded the kitchen an F (55/100), with 4 high-priority, 2 intermediate, and 7 basic violations recorded. Reviews describe the meal; the grade describes the conditions it was made in. DBPR last walked in on March 27, 2026. Across its inspection history the kitchen is declining, which argues for reading the older reviews with caution. On health score it sits safer than 3% of the Brevard County restaurants we grade. The citations behind that grade include cross-contamination and employee health knowledge.

What to do with that is a judgement call — the reviews describe the experience, the grade describes the conditions behind it. Read the originals below and judge the pattern yourself.

I have visited the Downtown Diner several times in the past few months and have enjoyed the food every time. The staff is wonderful, friendly, hard workers. My favorite go to foods are the omelets. Always fresh ingredients. and great portions . No matter what I order, I have always been very happy with the selection. This has become my favorite place to be able to sit and enjoy great food, awesome hot coffee and great atmosphere. Their menu consists of numerous items to choose from. Give them a try, you will see what you've been missing.

Best food ever, no other words needed. You’re missing out if you’re not dining in.

We ate breakfast at the Downtown Diner and absolutely loved it! The restaurant was super clean with such a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The food was AMAZING from start to finish. My husband isn’t usually a breakfast guy, but they made him a BLT and he could not stop talking about how good it was. And the hash browns? Easily the best we’ve ever tasted! I had the banana bread French toast and it was the perfect start to the day — absolutely delicious. Great food, great atmosphere, and friendly service. We will definitely be back every time we’re in Titusville!

I decided to take my wife to breakfast, We chose Downtown Diner. We were greeted nicely and shown to our seating, The wait staff was really hospitable, My wife ordered the Veggie omelet and I ordered the Classic, It seemed like a short wait and our meals were served. My wife really loved her omelet and my eggs and hash browns were oh so good, We also had French toast and had sausage patties. All in all it was a very pleasant meal and experience.

As visitors just passing through Titusville, we spotted The Downtown Diner and lots of people heading in after a SpaceX launch, so we thought we'd give it a try : well, aren't we glad we did! Absolutely superb local, home cooked food, superb friendly staff, and an experience you don't get in many diners nowadays. Highly recommended if you are anywhere near . In fact, we'd drive there specifically when we're in Central Florida next time!!

Had a great breakfast cooked just right

  • April 29, 2026

I tried this place instead of my usual breakfast place before my blood donation every two weeks. Not sure what was up, but my breakfast was very slow (~30 min) coming to me even though there were only 3-4 other customers when I arrived a bit after 7 AM. The cook seemed to be cooking one plate at a time. I've been back several times since my first review. The service and food has been very good since then. I would recommend to a friend.

One bowl atmosphere and people good food

  • April 27, 2026

Yummy food! I got biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese, grits with butter and cheese and bacon extra crispy. It was all delicious.

I 100% suggest that if you haven't been to this restaurant before, to take a chance and come check it out. It's atmosphere is comforting and the employees are always polite and welcoming to all customers and children. The food is always great, thanks to each chef. The waitresses keep the place clean including the people in the back who washed the dishes and replaced them constantly. Sometimes you hear some decent music by the cooks up front that's never anywhere near disrespectful to the customers. You can get breakfast or lunch, all have great options, until around 2pm because they don't stay open for dinners. I've been coming to this restaurant more often just because I have never had a complaint about anything. It's always worth it to show up when you're hungry to this place.

We love the downtown diner. Great service, always good food, excellent (large) portions. Makes you want to plan your next trip there. Only thing is if you have a large vehicle, the trick is to park on the street or across the street.

Hard to find. Looks out of business from the outside. Almost went elsewhere . Pancake dard on one side and tasteless. Sausage and egg good.

Nice place for any meal. Very good food and service. Got onions for the hot dog. Changed $1.00 for that.

For a diner in Titusville it was great! Server was amazing staff was friendly! Food was good but nothing blew my socks off. Reasonably priced and a good menu variety. Will be back!

  • April 9, 2026

I've been to Downtown Diner at least a dozen times with family and friends and all have enjoyed the meals. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is quaint, and I like that. The staff has always been friendly and good attentive service.

Came for breakfast left with a smile. Truly has character down from the rustic industrial look to the charismatic servers. The food is well presented and it's a good amount for what you pay. The quality is high and the generosity is exceptional. I will be coming back to try other things!
