Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
The recurring subject in this corpus is front-of-house, not the food in general. The staff tends to be raised approvingly here, averaging 4.4 stars. Freshness is the next most common subject, in 38% of reviews (averaging 4.7).
More reviewers landed on 5 stars than any other score — 17 of 24. A third strand, pacing, appears in 21% of them at 3.4 stars. Of the 24 rated reviews, 19 sit at four stars or better and 1 at two or below.
On the inspection side the picture is cleaner: DBPR graded this kitchen an A (94/100), with 1 intermediate and 3 basic violations. Whatever the reviews argue about, sanitation is not the weak point. That result dates from April 29, 2026. The trend across inspections is decline. That puts it ahead of 56% of graded kitchens in Orange County. What the inspector actually wrote up: handwashing and food-contact surfaces clean and sanitized.

We’ve been here 3 times now, every time is perfect. The staff is always friendly and attentive. This place is so unique and even if you don’t like seafood, their grilled and blackened chicken is phenomenal. I recommend the shrimp chowder and my dad loves their grilled octopus. I’ve had Marco, Jenna and Cassidy as servers and they have been wonderful. Our Diet Cokes were always full, they kept a close eye on the drinks which is the one thing I pay attention when it comes to a great server. Marco recommended the blackened shrimp or chicken Po Boy and I got both and it did not disappoint. Key Lime Pie for dessert was fantastic!! This place should have a solid 5 out of 5. Marco was exceptional today!

I have to say this place was a gem to find. The service was amazing. The food was fantastic. It’s the little things. First the fish dip was trout and hand made big chunks of fish. And the Cesar salad was perfect. Homemade dressing. Had blackened red fish which was super fresh. And “true blackening “. Now for the grits. Absolutely the best I’ve eaten out. Definitely worth a drive out of you way.

The food was delicious especially the Connecticut lobster roll. I had it with slaw. The seafood fritters was good as well as the shrimp and corn chowder. The fried green tomatoes needed seasoning that is the only reason I did not give them 5 stars. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone should try this place. They will not be disappointed

We love our last visit but we also came around 6pm my husband had the shrimp and grits loved it I had the combo with the clam strips and fish delicious and service was great today another story we got there at 3:12 pm waited at the host station no one came then went to the bar where a lady sat at end of the bar see us and just kept sitting then about 10 minutes later came and said do want to get seated I said yes we are going to sit in the bar area we sat and server came and took our drink order un sweet tea and a bud light bottle which was served in a glass didn't even ask if I wanted a glass or bottle I think this bartender was to much worried about eating her lunch. We ordered the soup no one came and asked how was the soup then ordered the burger sliders and grouper sliders and raw oysters and clam strips how's your food mine great lol asked the hostess for boxes we really liked this restaurant but really need to improve the service

The food is amazing. The fish is fresh and not over battered. The corn bread is without jalapeño which is a plus for me. My mother got a burger and it was done perfect. Save room for the key lime pie.

Best fried clams that I ever had, and Ive traveled many many places!

Visited during happy hour on a Wednesday and it did not disappoint at all. They have a great happy hour menu with food and drinks. We ordered the tacos, red snapper sliders, and the baked oysters and everything was a 10/10. Our bartender Natasha was great as well, very attentive and provided us with a great experience.

Let me start off by saying I got there early and did a walk-in for a 7-person party and the manager there was so helpful and kind and she was on it! She knew as soon as I got on the phone that my party was about to be there! And she got the table ready for us as soon as they walked in! I first sat at the bar and had a Reel Red sangria and an Oyster Shooter on the happy hour menu, I highly recommend both of those they are delicious! The bartender she was very helpful and so patient with me asking all sorts of questions about drinks & The tall gentleman that was a bartender or waiter there he was also fantastic! Our waitress was also so amazing the entire time! We were there having dinner with our uncle who just flew in from Trinidad. He's a very well traveled business man and he was so impressed with our waitress and her knowledge of the menu, and her excellent service! He literally said "wow it's really hard to find good service like this anywhere anymore!" And we as a family wholeheartedly agreed! The whole staff was so friendly and kind! The food was so fresh and delicious! It's safe to say we love this place and we will be back! Update June 17th 2026 Just had birthday dinner there and as always excellent service! The staff were so friendly, patient and amazing! Will definitely be back here more often this is genuinely my new favorite spot!

love the decor. Grouper Reuben very good.

Our last experience at Reel Fish wasn’t very good. Poor quality, and that was two years ago. We gave it another shot last night and what a pleasant surprise. The shrimp and corn chowder is a 10, and the oysters Rockefeller were delicious. We split the grilled redfish. Our sides were incredible; cheese grits. and the okra/tomato is a must. The service was on point and the background zydeco music added to ambience. We’re going next weekend!

Reel Fish is the real deal. It's my go-to favorite place when I visit the Orlando area. As an Open Table VIP member, I have dined at hundreds of restaurants around the globe, and Reel Fish meets all the key points I look for: quality of food, service, atmostphere, and esthetics. From the moment I walk in, I feel at home. The decor, art, and colors are welcoming and comforting; the service is exceptional: warm, friendly, and efficient; and the food and drink are consistently delicious and beautifully presented. During my recent experience, my son and I were enthralled and regaled by our server, Cici, whose detailed presentation of the menu and specials was delivered with aplomb, warmth, and humor. Owner Fred Thimm stopped by our table to greet us. For someone as accomplished as he, it was a genuine pleasure to experience his warmth and humble gratitude for our patronage. I tried the Lightning Bug cocktail for the first time and experienced a delightful explosion of flavors, thanks to the ginger and "buzz button" on top! The delicious Caesar salad was the real deal with garlic and anchovies. The pecan-crusted baked catfish with grits and collard greens was cooked to perfection. The key lime pie with pecan and graham crust was large enough for two. Another delightful, joyful, satisfying experience.

We love coming here for the grouper tacos and baked oysters, however the service is much to be desired. Example from our latest visit: We were early for our reservation (15 minutes) and the hostess greeted us with hostility and unfriendliness. We asked politely for our usual table since it was open and she hastily sat us there. I am unsure if she was having a bad day… or it was us being cheery and excited our table was open. We sat with no attentiveness for 7 minutes before we were greeted. This has been the norm for every visit. Drinks took quite a bit of time, and same with the food. The service is friendly when available- it just seems like it’s not the focus. Super laid back, no rush, no desire to be attentive. We will get to you when we get to you scenario. If you know this going in, you will have an enjoyable experience. We only keep returning for the food!

First time dining here. CiCi our server was so impressive. Best server we have had in any restaurant. Great suggestions. Great demeanor and so professional. We want to go back. And the food was awesome. We had oysters (so fresh) and the smoked fish dip. Fresh fish and so tasty. Entrees were awesome. 2 whole fish, one roasted and one fried were delicious. The accompaniments greens and grits were quite good. Fried okra was a little tough but tasty. Put this on your list and hope you get CiCi as your server!!!

The food is consistently good here but the variety is a bit limited. Check out their Happy Hour! You might want to pay attention to your bill however, when they bring it back to you after they run your card. It came back about $9 more than the original bill. When asked about it, it was stated that "the other girl mixed up the tickets" which doesn't make sense. This same " mix-up" has happened to me and other friends on other occasions. Coincidence?? 🧐

We left after a hour had passed and we still had no food or drink other than water and the appetizer I ordered 🙃 😑 😒

Good and atmosphere are phenomenal. We didn’t get waited on immediately but we walked in at Almost 4 in the afternoon. After that service was amazing. Fried green tomatoes are wonderful. Grouper amazing. Hope we are back in the neighborhood again!

The lobster lasagna was absolutely, positively incredible! If you like lobster, get it. You’ll thank me later ;)

My husband and I had a wonderful lunch at Reel Fish. Our chicken sandwiches prepared blackened and grilled were delicious. The brioche buns are so yummy! Reel Fish has our favorite fries so we indulge when we eat here. Our other favorite side is the avocado salad which you can add to their handheld options. Love that our favorites are still on the menu but like to see new items added. They have the freshest oysters around and many fresh catch options!

The host was literally, THE most RUDE and OBNOXIOUS person. If the management or owner is reading this, let it be known it was a young woman at the host counter. We waited politely to ask about walk ins as she shuffled around guests. She said 10-15 minutes wait, which was super reasonable, but when we asked if we could eat at the bar, she said verbatim, “See where the liquor is? That’s the bar where the you can DRINK. The rest of the restaurant is for EATING. So you can either DRINK at my bar or wait.”, with the rudest grimace. I genuinely have never experienced such a confrontational, nasty host upon entering an establishment. Can’t speak to the food, because we left immediately after that treatment. 0/10, if that’s how you’re treated before you even sit down to order.

Updating this review from about seven years ago. I came to Reel Fish a while ago, and it was a truly awful experience. The skimpy amount of seafood I got was not good, not cooked well, or served with undercooked potatoes. It shook me. Especially for a Winter Park restaurant. After my five year statute of limitations passed on repeating restaurants, I looked for the perfect opportunity to come back and try again. I found that opportunity recently with a few friends for brunch. Their brunch menu looked amazing, so we made our reservation and came on by. Ambiance is actually really nice. Right off one of the main WP roads, gigantic windows look out upon the street as passersby roam from shop to shop. Inside looks like an ocean-side sea shack, but an upper middle class one. Very nice little ocean-themed chotchkies adorn the walls, very cozy. Service was also great. Very nice server, very prompt food delivery, and they gave complimentary bread with a delightful butter. I always adore free bread. We started off sharing the Seafood Fritters (Four savory puppies, stuffed with lobster, shrimp, scallops, clams, grouper, onions, corn, poblano peppers, served with a zesty tartar sauce). If all five of those seafoods really were in there, there must have been only a few molecules each, but there was undoubtedly flavors from most of that list, and they were accentuated with the poblano. Topped with that zesty tartar, and this was an A+ app. I had the Lobster Benedict Royale (Chunks of…
