What diners say — our read

An average is a poor summary when the underlying reviews look like this. Reviews mentioning front-of-house average 2.9 stars, so it divides opinion rather than settling it. After that, cleanliness appears most often — 25% of the corpus, averaging 4.2.

Of the 22 rated reviews, 12 sit at four stars or better and 8 at two or below. The single most common rating left here is 5 stars (10 of 22).

The kitchen graded a C (70/100) on 3 high-priority and 6 basic violations at its last inspection, which is roughly where the reviews sit too. The visit behind that grade was January 27, 2026. The trend across inspections is decline. That puts it ahead of 13% of graded kitchens in Volusia County. For specifics, the last inspection cited food & equipment thermometers provided and accurate and cross-contamination.

The honest summary is that the evidence is mixed on both sides. The underlying reviews are reproduced in full underneath.

Considering the view this hotel has, I think it leaves a lot to be desired. There is no Jacuzzi, and the smell of chlorine from the pool reaches the room balconies. Room service is chaotic in the elevators and hallways; it just doesn't feel like a vacation.

Very nice place. The breakfast is outstanding.

  • June 24, 2026

Check in went to room 301. Walked in the room had the worst smell, i told the manager she said they would clean it. I left and went to dinner 2 hours later walked in. The room had not been cleaned. I left pieces of trash on the floor just to see what was they gonna be doing, still where i left it All they did is put some kind of airfresher. Plus the hold 3 nights, 4 days and I was there my room was not cleaned and I had to go ask them to clean it again. Couldn't get clean towels when I asked. This is the absolute "WORST"Hilton. I have ever been to in my entire life. I hate I even went to this hotel. I will never come back ever. I NEED A REFUND FOR ALL MY MONEY

Not good, hospitality failure. Tell you on reservation can extend do late then nope have to check out original day 11. This screwed up our extended family's day plan for our event as we had booked several rooms for them, and worst part of it was instead of showing concern or compassion the rude front desk clerk started to verbally escalate! it's OK if can't do something but when say can but don't come through = failure! Anyways, if you're looking for just a room bed by ocean K, but if desiring to enjoy more of a full service hotel vacation stay might want look elsewhere.... EDIT re their reply: Ty but how u know who/when? This stay wasn't yesterday was while ago. I will update this if/when hear how your upper management has taken steps to improve, don't care for any points but would like to hear how taking action to fix internal, i.e. for the good of future people. EDIT lowered from 2 to 1 as never heard anything : (

Love this hotel. Reasonable priced. On the beach with a nice pool. In a nice spot just north of Daytona beach. Just a 5 to 10 minute drive in. Rooms are up to date and staff is great. Ive been staying here for years

  • June 21, 2026

The room was clean, but the a/c could not keep up. It was a bit warm trying to sleep.

  • June 20, 2026

    Love it here

The hotel is a little outdated in the rooms. The downstairs area is nice. It’s unfortunate that you have to pay a resort fee every day as an extra cost! I tried to use my discount on food at checkout that I paid for with the resort fee and they told me that I didn’t do it properly and they would not honor it! Extra cost, no discount, and I never got a call from the manager to help fix this situation.

Rooms were clean, everything worked like it should. Staff was friendly, beach was great and somehow off the beaten path. Convenient to shopping and dining. Pleasant stay.

  • June 12, 2026

Very nice hotel. Staff was amazing. Very clean nice on site restaurant and bar. Shopping center across the street for anything you may have forgot or just want to shop. A couple restaurants are within walking distance as well.

Right on the beach walked on from pool area. Rooms are good and experienced nice staff.

  • June 10, 2026

Everything was wonderful until the person at the front desk was very rude after I was there for 4 days. The girl working was behind the desk on June 9th around 830 pm. I have never had an issue with hilton but this person ruined my experience.

I booked this hotel through a third party (priceline). The room I booked was a two queen bed ocean view. When I went to the desk to check in, the front desk clerk advised they had me in a single bed king room. I advised her, that I was positive I had reserved a two queen bed, room. After triple checking they said i had the king room and there was no other room they could put me in my family in. I called priceline to lodge a complaint. Priceline verified I had a two queen room but said they could not help me if the hotel did not have the room any longer. I called Pricelines customer care and they called the hotel back, at this point I had been dealing with this issue for an hour and a half and was on my way back home due to not having a hotel room. This agent advised the hotel now had the two queen room available. I drove an hour back and checked into the room I initially reserved. I got no explanation or apology for the error. The location of the hotel was nice, but it had a lot of issues. There was no air in the lobby or hallways, wall paper was coming off near the exit to the pool, it was attached with push pins, the pool gate did not properly latch. The room had some similar issues. I filed a complaint with Hilton's corporate office, they called back and said they would look into the issue. The issue with the the reservation mix up should have been handled at the hotel management level, but I did not even see a manager in the lobby the whole time I was there. I travel to…

  • May 24, 2026

This entire stay was wonderful because of Simone. She is a force and runs this place like a tight ship. Fielding questions from demanding guests, all while remaining calm and shining her light. We will definitely be back again!

Great locatIon right out.to.the beach|Comfort room.but pillows were very.much lacking

  • May 20, 2026

Bugs in my room and smells like weed, such a letdown

  • May 17, 2026

Beach front hotel, affordable staff and spacious rooms. No contact check in options available. Small convenient store. Definitely recommend stopping by!

  • May 11, 2026

Sketchy and rude housekeeping/management staff. Fridge stopped working and ruined our food. Halls reeked of marijuana all weekend.

  • May 10, 2026

Extremely rude and unwelcoming staff. Hallways reeked of weed despite being non-smoking. Fridge in the room did not work and caused our food to expire as well… If you want to be treated with respect and have peace of mind, I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Was great for our stay for Jeep Beach 2026. No complaints other than a housekeeper scolding my wife for holding a door open for me to bring in a big box item I had just bought at the Jeep Beach vendor area. She was not holding it open for no reason. Everything else was just fine. Front desk was quick and answered every question I had. The room was very clean and the WiFi was decently fast. Self parking cost extra. That’s a ripoff for sure when hotels all over the country offer free parking. That’s the reason for 3 stars. Paid parking is three star territory for any hotel I stay at. If not for that, 5 stars.

Stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Daytona Beach Oceanfront on May 7, 2026, and had a very concerning experience. The door to Room 420 did not properly lock—after closing it, I tested it, and it opened right back up. This was extremely unsettling, especially when traveling with my minor children. Management did send maintenance, but the situation left us feeling unsafe. We ended up barricading the door just to get through the night. I was in town for my daughter’s graduation, and the fear this caused—both for my children and me—was overwhelming. While the staff was polite and accommodating, safety is critical, and this should never happen. I’ve always trusted Hilton properties, but I will not be returning to this location. ⚠️ Please double-check your room doors for your safety.

This place is not customer service oriented. Requested to have sheets changed after 3 days and it took 5 days until they got to it. It, told me they were short-staffed. No coffee service, burnt my hand trying to make in room, they had wrong size cups by the coffee maker and it overflowed all over. Went down to the lobby and asked for another coffee pod and explained to them what happened and they did not want to give me one. Eventually they gave me one. I would never stay at this Hilton ever again. Attitude of front desk personnel was very poor, my problem was not there concern and didn't care that my hand was all red and burning.

I would normally give Hilton a 5 star, however, our last experience left much to be desired. I will preface by stating that we absolutely love the Hilton Brand, and the Garden Inn in particular, is our favorite. Whenever we visit Ormond Beach, this is the first place I check for Reservations, and normally, they are spot on. This particular trip was not our greatest (for many reasons), but as it relates to HGI, there were missed opportunities. Hotel check in was fine (as usual), however, we were on the 2nd floor, and asked were there other options available, and were immediately informed there was not. Secondly, we found that our toilet did not fully flush. We finally called the Front Desk to inform them, after the AI generated "How is your Stay?" message. We were told that someone would be right up, and the gentleman that came were very courteous. Having a toilet not working right off the bat, and then waiting for some time, for it to get fixed took valuable time from our vacation. I contacted the FD, to speak with a Mgr, and was told there was none for the evening, which I found strange that there is not a Night Mgr to handle Guest concerns. I then asked to have a Mgr contact me the next morning, and we did not receive a call either to our Room or my personal phone. We eventually called back, and asked was there another Room available, to which one appeared. Our disappointment lies on several things: 1: Checking in and finding that the toilet does not work, when that should…
