What diners say — our read

Diners rate this place well. The inspector did not. Reviewers who mention service rate this place 4.4 on average — it is working in the restaurant’s favour. Pacing follows at 21% of reviews, where ratings average 4.7.

Older reviews score better than newer ones (3.5 recent against 5.0 earlier), so direction is worth weighing alongside the average. If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (11 reviews). One subject never comes up here: plate size.

The inspection record is the harder read. DBPR graded this kitchen a D (67/100) on 1 high-priority, 1 intermediate, and 7 basic violations — a verdict the review average does not reflect. DBPR last walked in on March 30, 2026. Across its inspection history the kitchen is declining, which argues for reading the older reviews with caution. On health score it sits safer than 10% of the Volusia County restaurants we grade. The citations behind that grade include clean clothes and dishwashing facilities.

What to do with that is a judgement call — the reviews describe the experience, the grade describes the conditions behind it. Read the originals below and judge the pattern yourself.

This place was awful for the 20 mins we was inside. We walked in and everyone was rude from the get go. Then my 4 year old asked for another set of crayons because they only one brought my 2 kids one set of crayons. She was rude to our 4 year old just asking for her crayons. Just over everyone was rude

Popped in for some appetizers and cold drinks. 3 appetizers, 2 soft drinks, 1 virgin strawberry daiquiri... $60 The views are priceless though. Right on the beach, kind staff, quick food service. Would return if back in Daytona.

Had dinner here, party of 8, 4 adults 4 kids. Initially an hour wait but we got in within half an hour. Really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, tasty food and good service.

I went with my brother and his family, and My parentsWe enjoyed, I got the chowder soup. It was a good experience. We had a beautiful view from downstairs. We were sitting outside, so you immediately have the ability to just walk out into the beach. The sand looked really nice.

Indoor and outdoor! want to eat in the cool? you can, or keep the warm beach vibe going with their downstairs open air restaurant/bar

We had a great time. We sat at a table for four next to the window looking out to the beach. Everything was fabulous. The self parking was interesting. You pay to park but get back what you pay in fake bills which you use as money in the restaurant. Technically parking is free.

Robin, our waitress, did an amazing job. She provided great service. Most of our party had crab legs, which were excellent. The drinks were great, the service was wonderful. Highly recommend Ocean Deck Restaurant.
