Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
69% of reviews here touch on service, more than any other theme. Reviewers who mention service rate this place 4.4 on average — it is working in the restaurant’s favour. Pacing follows at 31% of reviews, where ratings average 3.8.
Behind those, freshness is raised in 19% of reviews (3.6 average). Of the 26 rated reviews, 23 sit at four stars or better and 2 at two or below. If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (21 reviews).
On the health side, the most recent DBPR inspection returned a B (82/100) with 3 intermediate and 9 basic violations — middling, much like the reviews. DBPR last walked in on May 19, 2026. The trend across inspections is decline. That puts it ahead of 37% of graded kitchens in Lake County. The citations behind that grade include cross-contamination and in-use food dispensing utensils properly stored.
With both signals pointing the same way, there is little to argue about on this listing. Everything above is computed from the 26 reviews reproduced below.

The Lakeside Inn is one of those places where you have to appreciate it for what it is. Walking through the doors felt like stepping into my grandmother's house, in a nostalgic, historic kind of way. Considering the hotel dates back to the late 1880s, it's impressive how well it's been preserved over the years. The staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming, and our room was clean, with a neatly made bed and fresh towels waiting for us. The location right on the lake is beautiful and is undoubtedly the hotel's biggest asset (sunset was amazing!). That said, the property is showing its age in some areas. There are quite a few small maintenance items that could be addressed, including fresh paint in places, very dirty windows, and worn carpeting that appears to date back to maybe an 80s or 90s renovation. I understand that being directly on the waterfront creates extra maintenance challenges, but a little attention to detail would go a long way. My room was quite small—honestly, my camper bedroom is larger—but it was functional. I would have preferred a small desk instead of a chest of drawers, especially since it was topped with four water cups despite the room realistically could never accommodate four people. The bathroom faucet leaked continuously no matter how tightly it was turned off, and the room only had blinds, so quite a bit of night light came through. The pool was surprisingly warm (my watch read about 92°), which made it less refreshing on a hot Florida day, and…

Beautiful old place in an excellent location. Lake views are spectacular and the front desk is attentive and professional. Took off a star because there was an overall "rickity-ness" to the facility that couldn't be overlooked. Sunken floor sections, difficult doors, slow hot water... Lack of outlets for charging tech...All can be explained by the hotel's age, but we've stayed at older places and they've addressed these matters. If 4.5 stars was possible, that'd be my hit. Nothing is a "deal breaker". If I'm ever in the area, I will DEFINITELY stay here...

Yes, great location and beautiful lake views and grounds. Unfortunately, the comfortable rocking chairs, side tables and deck chairs were infested with spider webs, midges and bugs. Even the ledges around the outside dining area were infested with bugs. Looks like they never make an attempt to even address it. Mentioned it at checkout and staff shrugged it off to a housekeeping issue. Dining in the “casual, upscale restaurant” was another disappointing experience. We ordered a very nice bottle of wine, server had no idea of how to serve a bottle of nice wine . Server seemed confused with very slow service. Pool needed to be vacuumed and netted for bugs. Will not return or recommend this place to anyone!!

Wonderful staff especially Brittany J. Our room was right by the ice maker so not really ideal but ok.
-
Thank you Brittany J for allowing us a last minute seating on Sunday morning! You were so accommodating and pleasant! You also made our day by sending us out with a cup of ice water on what is to be a hot, hot summer day in Florida! I cannot wait to come back and enjoy another weekend at the Lake with you as our server.

What a great place. The hotel has An amazing old charm while being operated by absolutely cheerful staff. My wife had Christina at the front desk helping us and my wife commented that she was one of the most helpful and cheerful people she’s ever worked with. The restaurant far exceeded my expectations. Lisa was amazing great server and gave us local recommendations. I’m relieved because no the normal way you expect these places to be to touristy or to be sub par because this is COMPLETELY not the case with lakeside and I’m gonna come back because of it. A hidden gem. Great people. Amazing hotel and the food is way above par.

Brittany J handled our large table of 12 women with ease and expertise!

Tha wait staff at the restaurant are above reproach. Riley took care of us in a timely and efficient manner. Her demeanor made it such a pleasant experience. This is our 4th time staying at this property.☆☆☆☆☆

Beautiful property! Rooms are nice and we're very clean. Beds were comfy and plenty of pillows. Hotel is located next to all the main attractions and eateries.

Enjoyed Fathers Day Brunch. Especially Rhiley's service to my table. What a joy it was having her as our server. My meal was excellant.

I have enjoyed cocktails and appetizers in the hotel bar. Brittany J was our bartender and she took excellent care of us. She allowed me taste the house Cabernet, which I’m sorry to say was terrible. Someone should taste it before they re-order it.

Lakeside Inn is historically authenic, lovingly restored, and beautiful landscaped. Christina rocks registration. There was a wedding the same night as our stay, so perfect since we were celebrating our anniversary. With this event, families with children, and seniors doing water aerobics, the Inn still felt intimate and charming. We look forward to making return visits.

We ate at the upscale dining restaurant. No comment about rooms because we didn’t stay at Lakeside Inn. The food was delicious! I ordered a salad and added salmon. The piece of salmon that came on top of my salad was very generous. My husband ordered the brisket and enjoyed it a lot, also a large portion. Our waitress was Rhiley B and she very upbeat and attentive, she is an asset to the restaurant. We enjoyed talking to her! We will be back!

Always a beautiful experience at the Lakeside Inn. Sweet tea is always fresh and their food is A+. Vibes are high. The most peaceful spot in central FL

Our restaurant experience was outstanding due to Riley’s attentive handling of our dinner. She was so supportive of our 57th wedding anniversary and made dinner extra special.
-
Riley B was awesome! We appreciated your great service.

We were there for dinner this last Thursday evening. The server was terrible, the food was mediocre and the prices were too high. No rolls no bread sticks, small glass of ice tea, two people ordered a beer, one a lady, she waited 15 minutes for the waitress to bring a glass and she only brought 1 glass. We waited 40 minutes for food. They ran out of risotto when I asked to replace with another starch, pasta she said no so we had asparagus and broccoli. Room was warm, AC wasn't working properly will never go back.

We only ate but Rhiley was awesome !! 5stars to her.

We had a fabulous stay at the Lakeside Inn. The hospitality was superb, we had breakfast at the inn in the morning, food was immaculate! Props to the chef and their team. We had a beautiful waitress named Bella who was so sweet and welcoming on my mom’s birthday. We’ll be more than happy to return for another stay. I’m not sure what that man with the glasses who seemed like the hospitality host, he was lovely as well. :)

We had a wonderful stay at Lakeside Inn. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. The hotel's restaurant was outstanding, with delicious food and excellent service. One of the highlights of our stay was the breathtaking view of the lake. The sunsets are absolutely stunning and create a truly relaxing atmosphere. If you're looking for a charming place to stay with exceptional hospitality, great dining, and unforgettable views, this is the perfect choice. We can't wait to come back!

Brittany J was very good. Drinks were refilled in a timely manner. The ambiance is great and the food was good. Great place for a little retreat.
-
Room was exceptionally clean for a vintage inn. Missed having a refrigerator & microwave. Servers Brittany & Riley were excellent. They were proficient and amiable. The chicken pot pie on menus was terrific! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Christina was a delight to talk to and so accommodating.
