Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
No strong feelings in these 25 reviews — the ratings sit low and steady. The staff cuts both ways here, averaging 2.9 among the reviews that raise it. How long an order takes follows at 24% of reviews, where ratings average 2.8.
Whether food comes out hot shows up in 16% of reviews as well, averaging 2.5. 11 of 25 rated reviews are four stars or higher; 11 are two or lower. More reviewers landed on 5 stars than any other score — 8 of 25.
Set against that, the state's own inspection graded the kitchen a D (62/100), with 2 intermediate and 12 basic violations recorded. Reviews describe the meal; the grade describes the conditions it was made in. That result dates from June 24, 2026. Across its inspection history the kitchen is improving, which argues for giving it the benefit of the doubt. On health score it sits safer than 5% of the Orange County restaurants we grade. What the inspector actually wrote up: handwashing and wiping cloths.
Both halves of this page point the same unflattering way, which at least makes it simple. Full reviews follow below in the order they were left.

This was my 2nd time eating at this restaurant, first at this specific location, and it did not disappoint. The waitress was pleasant and attentive and the food was delicious. I got the fried snapper, rice and peas, and mac and cheese and everything was perfectly seasoned. We knew The Licking was a must while in Florida.

Great service, great food. Can't wait go go back!

The food was amazing however, I felt like the staff was not as pleasant..they never checked on us to refill drinks and forgot to put part of our order in. Then said they couldn’t take it off after we had consumed our whole meal without the appetizer ever coming out…and you have to pay for refills for ice tea. The menus prices are incorrect.

The young lady who helped me at the register and her coworkers was very cool. Told me what they suggested. I believe I had a fried turkey wing plate with mac and cheese collard greens and I added yams. That was my first time having fried turkey wings. The flavor was good but I don't know they might have fried it too long or too hard. The lemon pepper sprinkle was a good little touch. I would try it again But my baby had the steak and shrimp dinner with greens and mac and cheese which she loved

ORDERED THE SEAFOOD RICE AND THEIR WAS IMITATION CRAB MEAT WHICH THREW THE RICE OFF. NOT VERY MUCH SEASONING. THE CHICKEN WINGS WERE TINY AND THE LICKIN SAUCE WAS JUST BBQ SAUCE…. NOT IMPRESSED.

Charging a 3% fee to pick up orders and calling it an inflation rate. Food quality was salty and soggy. Nothing but hype.

The food was good! I got a fried shrimp meal with extra shrimp, Mac n cheese and collard greens and seafood rice with a lemonade! $44 So good! My only critique is the seafood rice was difficult to eat because they put small 🦀 in it and the bones were a slight hazard 😅 it made it a bit difficult to eat.

The food is great. Always hot and fresh. However the service is terrible every time I visit and the prices and all the extra fees they add on it CRAZY. The prices went up at least a year ago and the menus still hasn't been updated. so when you order from the menu the prices are more than what the menu says. You can only get a refill on fountain drinks not including tea which I think is just distasteful and cheap! If you do order, get your food to go because the gratuity that's added to your bill is crazy when you wasn't even good service in a restaurant in the first place. We dined in and It took over 20 minutes for us to even get a drink! Mind you it wasn't busy at all. It took 45 minutes for our food to come and the first thing they bring out is one of our to go orders!! We was still waiting on one more order for the table a one more to go order, it's almost been a hour at this time. My mom politely asked the server to just cancel the 2nd to go order. She responded no I can't do that! EXCUSE ME!? If my mom doesn't want the meal anymore and is tired of waiting your supose to politely cancel her order and apologize about the wait! She made my mom get the food after she told the server she no longer wanted it. The server rushed and brought the order out anyways! The serice here is terrible. The prices and exta fees are insane. I use to love this place but it has gone down a lot. I won't be returning! THE OWNER IS MONEY HUNGRY, NOT FOR THE PPL, AND CHEAP AS HELL!! WE MADE THIS…
-
The kitchen staff is very unprofessional we went two days in a row and had to wait over an hour for our food at the same establishment. Crystal the server was amazing!! She was very professional and tried to make our experience amazing. I called the manager Thomas who did not return my call and was not on site! Two days in a row there was no manager on campus. The staff in the kitchen was dancing, speaking inappropriately and playing instead of getting the orders out! Someone from cooperate needs to reach out to me! This was a terrible representation. Crystal deserves a raise she didn’t have no breaks and still had great customer service.

Service sucks. But the food is the best
-
We came in they took almost an hour to take our order they haven’t took our order we had to go to the register to order them we were told to we have to pay gratuity for to go and after we did to go they told us we could not eat in the establishment just being rude to us because we were ready to order I would not recommend the service but the food was good.

Everything was really good.. 9.9/10 the .1 comes from no beer lol

This was not my cup of tea. Guess I don't like "soul food". Ordered the special mixed non alcoholic drink but did not like it. Waitress never came back and offered water. Brings me a handheld machine to pay bill but couldn't see breakdown so I added tip as usual. There is a sign that says they auto add tips on weekends We were there on Thursday. I have to request a receipt and then I find they had already added a tip PLUS added a service charge for using a credit card. Never saw any sign saying that. So watch your bill.

I think they closing. They only have take-out and half the menu is gone. First time coming and ended up leaving empty handed 🤷🏾♀️

1120 am not open on time businesses like that won’t last

The food was delicious it was cold but once heated up very good the downside is The girl Rachel at the front was not nice she didn’t even greet anyone and made us use the dirty tablet to put our name and phone number instead of her doing it. Rushing us out to get out she let us know to wait outside for our food and get a text when it’s done why do we have to wait outside not asking dine in or take out..? we never got the text so had to come in and check on it. The table were dirty in the lobby she made us move from one table because it was “closed” near the entrance when other table has food or stains on it. Aside the negative the food was great! Just need better customer service.

Prefect everything

Spelt Like marijuana upon walking in. It was a turn off.
-
The fish tacos was outstanding, but the wings were on the small size. Look as if they were refried. The lobster bits were good
-
Crystal the host and server was very nice. The food came our within a quick amount of time. Hot and freshly cooked. One recommendation on the collard greens easy on the salt, heavily salted.
