Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
The reviews here disagree with each other more than they disagree with the grade. Where price comes up, the rating that follows averages 4.4, so it reads as a strength. Front-of-house is the next most common subject, in 27% of reviews (averaging 4.2).
If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (18 reviews). 20 of 22 rated reviews are four stars or higher; 2 are two or lower. Plate size shows up in 18% of reviews as well, averaging 3.3.
The inspection lands in between as well: DBPR graded this kitchen a B (84/100), citing 1 high-priority, 1 intermediate, and 5 basic violations. DBPR last walked in on April 29, 2026. Ranked against Volusia County, it is safer than 35% of the restaurants we score. The citations behind that grade include cross-contamination and nonfood-contact surfaces clean.
Nothing here pulls in opposite directions — an unusually clean read. Everything above is computed from the 22 reviews reproduced below.

Great place to ride for lunch wife loves the steamers
-
Great clams, shrimp & scallops ! Well worth the trip here.
-
Amazing fried clams, the best around! The onion rings were excellent too. My only suggestion would be to add umbrellas to the outdoor picnic area, which would make it more enjoyable for customers visiting with their pups.
-
Delicious fried shrimp and clam. They have clean oils and excellent batter.
-
Good food prices are reasonable. They need to fix the back door going to bathrooms so it doesn't slam shut we with a loud noise
-
The best fried clam strips bar none. Plus the shrimp and sides are amazing
-
Amazing food and service. Thank you!

I ordered the seafood platter to share with my 95 year old "other mother" (assuming by the looks of the other customers' platters that it would be much too much for her and I separately). What we received was so much skimpier than everyone else's that "Ma" asked "what is this?" believing they had possibly divided the meal before bringing it to the table... not so! The other seafood platters served at the same time made ours look like a "half platter". I would hate to think that me being the only black customer and the fact that I got "dirty looks" from those present as I entered the establishment was the reason for the skimpy platter. I can't just cite the customers for the ugly sneering looks because the very pleasant serving waitress saw the disproportionate serving, yet brought it anyway , thus justifying it's size. The food tasted amazing, but the portion size we were served was absolutely appalling!!

I got scallops and they were cooked to perfection!
-
Delicious seafood, specifically the lobsters, clams, and crab legs. The staff is very friendly and accommodating!

Stopped by today ordered some seafood hot a VERY SMALL amount of scallops maybe 6 in my order if that and belly clams clams were extremely small not like they use to be. Got another order of scallops also very small portion 5-6 at most along with fried oysters they had a very pungent smell, not normal almost smelled as if they were bad did not finish those. The onion rings were stringy not big and fat like they used to be. There were small little strings. I got one stuck in the back of my throat and almost choked payed $65 something dollars. Not please with our food today at all quantities were a big issue portion was another. We have eaten there for many years and never got such small amount of food for that price and the flavor of the items. The only thing that was very good was the scallops. It will be a while before I come back there at all. Sorry it’s just the truth. I’ll pass

This place hits home when it comes to the food. Coming from Massachusetts I thought I would never find clam strips and onion rings as good as the seafood in Mass. been there 3 times already and the food is always perfect!! Love ❤️this place and can’t wait to go back. Never a disappointment when you come here. Simply the best!!

Fantastic seafood. Anyone from New England will feel like they are home. It is a cash only business.

We today for lunch, drove an hour, 110% worth it. I grew up on Cape Ann (where the original Essex seafood is) and I have eaten whole belly clams from all the big name places ( Woodmans, Ipswich seafood, JT Farnhams and the clam box). This place is just as good! I had a clam boat and the wife had a lobster roll, and everything was fantastic! The place reminded me of home, without the salt marshes! The service and the food can't be beat! Thank you team! You should be proud!

We went for Mothers Day. It was delicious. I had the whole belly clam plate and it was great size. Hubby had a 1/2 rack of ribs and he said it was great. 3 others had shrimp and enjoyed it.

Got the seafood platter. Fish shrimp scallops clam strips hush puppies and classic mac and cheese. All the seafood was fried and cooked perfectly. Not overcooked. Entire meal was excellent.

-
Some of the best seafood and onion rings around!
-
Excellent seafood. Clam strips were very good and the crab legs fresh and cooked perfectly. Our waitress was extremely nice efficient. Food was fresh and hot out of the kitchen . But is cash only.
