Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
This listing's ratings cluster at the two ends of the scale. Where service comes up, the rating that follows averages 4.2, so it reads as a strength.
Of the 24 rated reviews, 19 sit at four stars or better and 5 at two or below. One subject never comes up here: plate size. If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 5, the most frequently given rating (17 reviews).
On the health side, the most recent DBPR inspection returned a C (78/100) with 2 high-priority, 1 intermediate, and 3 basic violations — middling, much like the reviews. DBPR last walked in on June 17, 2026. Its inspection trajectory is upward over the records we hold. On health score it sits safer than 24% of the Volusia County restaurants we grade. The citations behind that grade include cross-contamination.
Neither signal is decisive on its own here, which is why both are shown. Read the originals below and judge the pattern yourself.

I’ve been going there for almost 40 years slowly and slowly just been going down as far as how they treat the customers the waitress last night rushed to order and shitty personality thanks d for a crappy meal experience for the new people that came with.
-
Definitely a busy place but worth the wait! Everything we got was very good! Captain Hooks platter was good with multiple seafood items, rolls and cinnamon rolls are great as well. Family friendly!
-
my wife and I drive an hour and a half from Orlando to eat here at least twice a month! That tells you all you need to know!
-
The fish chowder is amazing, the prime rib was perfect.
-
This place is a must when we are in New Smyrna. Best steaks and the bread is so yummy.
-
Another family favorite! Bread and cinnamon rolls for everyone to start dinner.
-
Server top notch. Food yummy. Screaming baby priceless! Just make sure you eat the cinnamon bun first. Warm.

Great meal excellent setting and the best service! Had the prime rib it was excellent!
-
Prime Rib is the best here. Jimmy the waiter is the best, he can remember your orders without writing it down and he's a blast. This is one of our favorite places.
-
The prime rib is some of the best that I have ever had!

We had dinner at Blackbeard's Inn on Tuesday, June 2. There were 4 adults. We all ordered off the "Early Bird" menu. Three ordered the seafood combo and one person ordered the chicken breast meal. Wendy was our server. The courses came out promptly and hot. All the food was delicious!! Wendy is a 5 star server!! Personable, knowledgeable and friendly with a mega watt smile 😃 When I am in New Smyrna Beach, I will definitely be back!! Kudos to Blackbeard's Inn for a job well done!! Thank you Wendy for your outstanding service!!

Really enjoyed my first visit here. The atmosphere was a reminder of how fun a local establishment can be when you’re on vacation. Food was excellent as well!
-
The Prime Rib was the best. Oyster Rockefeller was also very good. Server Jack was top shelf. Get there early as it fills up fast. Not a fan of the shrimp.
-
We love coming here for early bird special. The prices are good. The prime rib is the best prime rib of the I found so far in Florida, it melts in your mouth, and they cook it perfectly.

No never again close the place or renovations is needed

I have not been here for several years…. I decided to go have dinner and was pleasantly surprised! Our waiter Shawn was extremely helpful and recommended the best appetizers also helped us with our dinner choice. He was on time to every phase of our dinner experience:) I enjoyed this so much I wanted to recommend you to try the prime rib and ask for Shawn as your server you will not be disappointed 🎉 What a wonderful restaurant! ☀️

If I wanted to be treated like a truck stop, I’d go there again. The food was fantastic but it was low class Denny’s experience in every way. I wouldn’t go there again if they offered my $150 bill for two for free.
-
A nice, clean restaurant that isn’t super noisy so a party can have conversations. The service couldn’t have been better and the prime rib truly is the star of the show. Even the au jus was remarkable. Get there early as the restaurant does not take reservations. Enjoy!

Friday night kitchen is closed at 8:30 PM and then I was threatened by the Bartender to be arrested because I asked why they were closed so early early

Wow did we get lucky. Arrived mother's day at around 4 pm. Luckily it was not packed yet. But by the time we finished there was not a chair in sight. We came for the prime rib Wich my mother heard was good. Well o my it was sooo yummy. Both of ours were temp to perfection. Really had a great time. Ty, special occasions are so important that times like these are so memorable.
