Reviews via GoogleWhat diners say — our read
Sorted newest-first, the ratings decline as you read up. Service is the sore point: those reviews average 2.2. Pacing is the next most common subject, in 38% of reviews (averaging 2.1).
If you had to pick one number to represent this corpus it would be 1, the most frequently given rating (11 reviews). Freshness shows up in 21% of reviews as well, averaging 2.0. The split is 13 positive to 15 negative across 29 rated reviews, with 1 in the middle.
The kitchen graded a B (80/100) on 3 intermediate and 11 basic violations at its last inspection, which is roughly where the reviews sit too. DBPR last walked in on June 3, 2026. The trend across inspections is decline. That puts it ahead of 19% of graded kitchens in Orange County. The citations behind that grade include cross-contamination and in-use food dispensing utensils properly stored.
The weak part of this listing is the experience, not the sanitation — those are different failures. The individual reviews are below, newest first, if you want the raw material.

DO NOT GO HERE. We requested to be sat at a booth and were told none were clean even though there were only 2 tables sat in the whole restaurant. After finding a clean booth out of basically all of the tables since they were all open, we waited 15-20 minutes before getting up and leaving like the other group of women did right before us since not even 1 server came up to us to get any drink or food order. No one seemed to care so we took our business to Yard house (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) right across from this place and had an amazing dinner and drinks. And ironically the group of women who left this restaurant also went to Yard House. After eating at the much better restaurant we walked past the sugar factory and all of the employees were huddled around the bar with absolutely 0 tables sat. This place is so strange and actually very ratchet. The bathroom was disgustingly dirty and the toilet was literally held up by a stand underneath. Also very strange, while all of this was happening it appeared to be an interview at 9:30pm taking place in the candy section of the restaurant where the manager literally didn’t care that any of this was happening.

Took my daughter here for her birthday. Everything from the dirty table, poor food, and truly some of the worst service we have ever seen made this bday one we wont forget soon.
-
Food was okay and very loud music
-
Was my worst experience yet this year music too loud got a reservation for 7pm when I got there they said there was no tables and finaly after I got a table waiting 15 minutes we sit down the waiter got to the table with the plates and threw the plates on the table we discussed a little and got to the conclusion we didint want to eat there too crowded and we told the manager all what happend he even asked if he could do something to make us better but we just left and went to outback
-
the place and people were nice here but 30 dollars for had eggo tasting frozen waffles?, stay away from the chicken and waffles
-
The service was very disappointing. Our waiter rarely checked on our table, several parts of our order were either forgotten or incorrect, and we had to ask multiple times just to receive our check. Overall, the experience was frustrating due to the slow and inattentive service.
-
The waiter took our order and he never bought my son’s milkshake until I had to get up and ask the lady who was making them. Once we got our food, we mention to him that we are missing our fries and never got it. The waiter never came to see us to make sure we were fine or if we needed something else. I wouldn’t come back to this place.

***Watch out from scamming waiters *** We were a party of four and asked for one bill. When we finished, the server never brought us an itemized receipt. Instead, she simply told us the total, handed us the payment terminal, and kept talking to us while we were trying to complete the transaction. The payment terminal prompted us to add a 7% or 10% tip, so we selected 7%, believing no gratuity had yet been added. After paying, we asked for the receipt because we intended to leave an additional cash tip. That's when we discovered the restaurant had already included a 20% gratuity on the bill. At no point did our server tell us that gratuity had already been added. As a result, we unknowingly left a 27% tip. When we asked the waiter, she started explaining how the restaurant takes 5% and justifying herself. Whether intentional or not, I found this extremely misleading. Personally, I believe the omission was deliberate, especially since we weren't given the bill before paying and the gratuity was never mentioned. As for the food: Smash burgers: Large, juicy, and the best item we ordered. The fries were very basic. Beef noodles: Very disappointing. The pasta resembled spaghetti, the sauce was overly salty and excessive, and the noodles were swimming in it. Wedge salad with chicken: Not a true wedge salad—it was made with romaine lettuce instead of a wedge of iceberg. The chicken was served cold, with only four small strips. At $23, it wasn't worth the price. Our bill was about…

I do not recommend Sugar Factory. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The restaurant was supposed to open at 9:00 AM, but the doors didn’t open until 11:05 AM. We were the very first customers there, yet we didn’t receive our food until after 12:00 PM. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious the restaurant was completely unorganized. Staff members were slowly trickling in long after opening time. A man I assume was the manager apologized and explained that employees were running late. Our waiter was polite and apologized several times, saying the Wi-Fi was down and our order never went through when he initially entered it. While we waited, we watched employees repeatedly walking back and forth through the dining room carrying trays of raw, uncooked food, apparently taking it to the kitchen. The entire operation looked chaotic. No one seemed to know what they were doing, and the staff appeared completely lost. To make matters worse, when my food finally arrived, my chicken and waffles were terrible. The chicken was burnt, and the waffles tasted stale, like they had been sitting around for days. Waiting over an hour for food as the first customers, combined with the lack of organization, poor communication, and disappointing food quality, made this an awful experience. I will never return, and I definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We entered the building on a Tuesday where the whole place was empty and only 2 tables seated. The hostess asked us if we had a reservation we said no she proceeded to say they’re not taking walk ins currently. I mentioned the restaurant was empty and if I booked a reservation online now for a group of 6 it allows me. She froze and said I really can’t tell u to do that. Is this how u treat paying customers? Was this a racial issue? I never experienced such rude and inconsiderate service. We’re from out of state and can definitely say never again.

We had a mixed experience with the food here—the chicken tenders were extra tasty, but unfortunately, the burgers were pretty dry. Honestly, the drink and dessert menus are so massive and have so many options that we realized we would have been better off just eating something small at home beforehand! It's a fun atmosphere, but next time we will probably skip the big entrees and just come for the amazing drinks and sweets.
-
Extremely poor service and communication. Missing food and no urgency to correct. Upcharge of $5 per slice of cheese for my kids menu burgers that were said to have cheese come with them when ordering. Service charge of 20% not known until paying. Also witnessed a family come in, wait extended time to be greeted and then leave after then waiting at the table for an extended time. Not an “experience” at all.

First time visiting, went for a lunch birthday- they left the door open so it was hot and humid, music was blaring (which I understand for nighttime but it was a bit overwhelming at 1pm. The bartender took our order and never returned. We got food from the cooks in the back but nobody checked in with us, no refills, nothing. We were going to order the milkshakes but after waiting for 20 minutes after eating we decided to go elsewhere- I had to flag down a worker walking by to get our check she told us we would have to wait for the bartender, waited another 10 minutes, paid and left. For the price you pay for food and drinks you would think atmosphere and service would be better than that- I also saw two little kids slip and fall next to us because the tile floors were so slick. I wouldn’t return to this place.

Went tonight with a gift card that I was given. Was so happy to try this place out. Only to be disappointed. The music is so loud you can’t hear the staff or people you are eating with. My daughter got chicken and waffles she said they were good. Not great but good. We had an appetizer as well the Mac and cheese fried bits. They were really good. I got the 8 oz sirloin steak. It comes with two sides. I only got one. They forgot my salad. The fries aren’t made with truffle they are cut like truffles. Just an FYI. We got the cheesecake and rainbow cake to take home. Which both wasn’t really that good at all. Before I go into the paying part of it all. Just to let you know the site does not reflect the price on the menu. They really need to update the site. Plus when you go to pay you are charged no matter how big your party is a 20% fee on top of what you spent. But the website they only charge that if you are 6 or more in your party. Ummm…. It was just me and my daughter. Then they gave me Looks for using a gift card like it was petty. So beware the website does not reflect what you get when you go and eat here. Was really not satisfied the food isn’t that great. It’s like the chef doesn’t care about the quality that goes out. My steak was supposed to medium rare and wasn’t and it was burnt on the outside. Taste was not there. No herb butter like it said it would. It just was awful experience. Would I ever go back. Nope you can’t pay me enough to go back. Bad food and service…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My experience at Sugar Factory was absolutely amazing! From the delicious food to the fun atmosphere, everything exceeded my expectations. A special thank you to Erez for providing such outstanding service. He was incredibly kind, attentive, professional, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. His positive attitude and genuine care truly made our visit memorable. It’s rare to come across someone who goes above and beyond to make guests feel special, and Erez definitely did that. Because of him, our experience was even more enjoyable, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend Sugar Factory, and if you’re lucky enough to have Erez taking care of you, you’re in great hands! — Belkys (BrLaoriginal) ❤️

My husband got sick after eating the burger there.

We visited the Sugar Factory for a birthday celebration. The waiter was friendly and the food tasted good. We tried to order the spinach dip and 2 mozzarella sticks. We were told they were out of spinach dip and possibly out of mozzarella sticks. Luckily our waiter was able to get us the last of the mozzarella. Then we ordered Pepsi, unsweet Ice tea and apple juice. They were out of Pepsi, they do not have unsweet tea and they don’t serve apple juice. I ordered the $29 colorful burgers so the kids could try them and $13 fries so I could give the birthday girl the duck instead of the $22 basic burger and fries. I also ordered the Pretty in Pink which the menu stated changes colors. The burgers had no duck and the drink didn’t change colors. The waiter said they no longer include the duck which is shown on the menu photo and had to check the menu for the description on my drink. He confirmed it said it changed colors but apparently they were out of the pea flower element. When we got our bill he did take $4 off for the missing duck. He informed us he does not receive the included tip because it is split among the staff so we added a little more because it wasn’t his fault they ran out of everything. Overall it was a one and done. The fact that some drinks are $55+ and it cost extra for them to sing happy birthday even though we spent almost $100 on milkshakes alone it just felt like a tourist trap.
