Florida Restaurant Emergency Closure Orders
An emergency order is the most serious action Florida takes against a restaurant. It suspends the licence, which means the restaurant must stop serving food that day. It is not a fine or a warning — the kitchen closes until an inspector returns and confirms the problem is fixed.
Inspectors reach for it when conditions make safe operation impossible rather than merely risky: no running water, a sewage backup, an active pest infestation, or refrigeration that cannot hold food at a safe temperature. Of the 39 restaurants below, 24 have a later callback recorded as complied, meaning an inspector returned and cleared them to reopen.

What happens after an emergency order
The restaurant corrects the problem and requests a return visit. That visit is a callback inspection, and its disposition is what tells you how the case ended. These are the dispositions DBPR recorded across the 39 restaurants on this page.

- What is a restaurant emergency order in Florida?
- An emergency order suspends the establishment’s licence, which means it must stop serving food immediately. Florida issues one when an inspector finds conditions serious enough that continuing to operate would put customers at risk — no running water, a sewage backup, an active pest infestation, or no way to keep food at a safe temperature.
- Can a restaurant reopen after an emergency closure?
- Yes. The suspension lasts until the restaurant fixes the problem and an inspector returns to verify it. That return visit is a callback inspection, and a disposition of "Emergency Order Callback Complied" means the restaurant satisfied the inspector and was allowed to reopen.
- How common are emergency orders?
- Rare. Of the 2,316 restaurants we publish, 39 have an emergency order on record — 1.7%. Most restaurants never receive one.
- Does an emergency order mean the restaurant is closed now?
- Not necessarily. Our records show the order and the callback that followed it. Where the disposition reads "Callback Complied" the restaurant was cleared to reopen. Always check the restaurant’s own page for the most recent inspection we hold.
